2GB or 4GB? If 4GB, the best firmwares for this box at the moment are the HK1 Pro or ported X96 Max firmwares. There's also an XTMod ATV port if you prefer an ATV rom.

Personally I just use the latest official H96 Max X2 firmware, although some people have problems with it. I haven't had any issues with it though.

If you have the 2GB version, I believe the X96 Max port will work on the 2GB version too. But other than that I'm not sure.

    HK1 Pro firmware: https://mega.nz/#!4IV2QSyL!hUeu7wIZP...6FzRKcVHU-1N1I
    X96 Max port: https://yadi.sk/d/3VKaqwoHlHhwVw
    XTMod ATV v4 port: https://yadi.sk/d/49NfDuCx1u66QQ
    Latest official H96 Max X2 firmware: https://yadi.sk/d/O9tVevV5rA3XQA

All are img files, use Amlogic USB Burning Tool 2.1.6.8 or later.

There are some great roms made by the devs here at freaktab, but only ethernet works on some of them. None of them have the wifi or bt drivers for our box since none of the devs own one. And there isn't anyone making ports anymore. Hopefully some of the devs can get their hands on one, or find the proper drivers.

What do you mean latest? There are many roms linked on 4pda as well as in this thread. You can read the thread.

There is an android 9 rom I am using. But wifi bt drivers are not present in it because the rom has not been ported for our box. If you are an ethernet only user, it will work for you.

sergej at 4pda says that the T10 Pro firmware works on the H96 Max X2 4GB.

            https://chinagadgetsreviews.com/down...ro-tv-box.html

Looks similar to the HK1 Pro interface, but it has a later date than the latest HK1 Pro firmware, so it might be worth a shot.

If he is saying it works, it works. I was happy on android 9 now I am confused if I should try this or not. Setting up my apps on a firmware and then something new turns up that catches my curiousity.

Guess I'll try it out, BTW I use Titanium to backup my apps and settings, within 5 minutes after first boot everything is back to normal.

I went ahead and flashed to the T10 Pro firmware and it's stable, just like the other ones I've tried. The build date is 1.20.19, so the filename is misleading.

The included youtube TV app (v2.04) crashes, but if you update to the latest 2.06, it works just fine. Play store updates. Keyboard enter key needs to be fixed (easy fix). It's rooted with supersu pre-installed.

I've seen a review of the T10 Pro and it came with a build dated 2.26.19 (chigz reviews) but the update app didn't find anything.

If you have HK1 firmware, you have T10, they are clones. Only difference is in the about section.

I tried titanium backup with several different roms without success, titanium can't find the backup files created with the previous roms. did you also have this problem?

When you backup, go to the root directory, (Where your pictures and movies folders are located), copy the Titanium folder to an sd drive or usb, then when you install a rom, move the titanium folder back before you install Titanium, then install it, and select 'Restore missing apps with data' It will see the folder and restore all your apps and your settings within those apps.

There are some minor differences (some of the included apps and build date), but yeah the launchers are almost identical.

On all of the firmwares I've tried, I experienced glitchy youtube videos where the screen would go pink/green. Usually this only happens in the first few videos I play. But I have yet to experience this on the T10 Pro firmware fwiw.
