Minor issue:
My RC11 keyboard works for 90%. For instance: Enter--> q. As reporter above.
Keyboard is not working in recovery.

I'm running my R-K42 with the stock ROM from the factory. When people upgrade their ROMs and say that the box is running much faster, what are they referring too? Is it the UI that is more responsive, or a higher score in a benchmark test? I know many members here use the box for XBMC and are concerned with 1080p playback, but I am happy with 720p.

I am interested in getting the best HTML5 performance out of the box. Would installing Wasser's or Lewy's Rom help?

I am still having problems with TV OUT in 1.2.3

I have a projector and old CRT TV. The projector is VGA so I am using HDMI2VGA adapter from dealextreme, which is working great. The projector is 720p so that's the max resolution the box allows me to set and I am happy with it.

BUT: No matter what I do, I can't get a good picture with the TV OUT. When I start the device, the TV is blank. If I enter system settings, and switch the TV format from PAL to NTSC (and optionally back again to PAL), I get a picture, however, it is very distorted. I think the RGB color layers are offset and floating apart. Also, the picture is only stretched this way in the bottom half of the picture, the top remaining blank.

I tried disconnecting the HDMI, which didn't make any difference. When I connected it back, the TV OUT went blank again and was only enabled again after switching the TV format to NTSC and back to PAL again.

I need both outputs to work simultaneously, e.g. I can watch something on my projector and my gf watch the same thing when she has to do something in the other room with the old TV.

Please help?

Lewy's 2.0.4 worked good with this with some of the newer wasser kernel...

please try to set video.accelerate.hw=0 in /system/build.prop. it should work again

There is some strange IR remote behaviour some time ,
It seem the key preses are duplicated or the a key acts like its stuck ,

I see there is a IR remote fix.zip in the T version of the firmware ,
Is this relevant to this firmware too ?

you don't need remote fix.zip if your firmare has version 1.2.3. it's made for old firmware.

Hi wasser the K-R42 does not have build-in Bluetooth but can i use Bluetooth dongle ?
if i can how can i make it work? thanks.

ATM Bluetooth dongle is not supported in my firmware. It's on my todo list for next firmware

Installation info:
1. run RKBatchTool--1.7.exe tool which is included in the zip file to flash the firmware
2. select the firmware image then click restore button to flash the firmware

I am not positive, but according to Digger in another thread...

"It is impossible to say correctly that 2.1 is newest. I have v2.1 too, but I had to flash it with 1.2.3 Old version FW. It depends on the date when your box was cooked in Chinese factory. My was born on 1332 (32nd week). And I know 1335 (35th week) requires New 1.2.3 FW. So if your device is with v2.1 printed on board try to check and compare the date of manufacture. Lower than 1332>Old FW, bigger than 1335>New FW.

In case you flash wrong FW version, you won't have LAN in working condition only. "

Blue ray images

Hi Wasser, I saw in the folder "mnt" folder "blu ray" , means possible as that blu ray images watch ?if yes then how to do it with usb hdd?

please try to set video.accelerate.hw=0 in /system/build.prop. it should work again

that helped only partially - the image is now displayed correctly, but only in lower left part of the screen, the other remains black. it also lags massively and with reduced framerate - my guess is around 10 fps, maybe less.

edit: it also broke XBMC HD video playing (no picture, only subtitles). edited it back, rebooted and it works again. note that i have only enabled libstagefright as mediacodec crashes for me in some videos. using xbmc gotham alpha 10.

anyway: how do i permanently remount that storage for r/w?

Thank you wasser, im running this firmware now with the old version and everything runs perfect, LAN works flawless, machine runs smooth.

i added a init.d script for mounting my network and works like a charm.

DTS Passthrough is working very good, havent got any problems yet and beautifull sound coming from the speakers !!


Only thing i experience now is that justxbmc crashes now and then, but video's play smooth as hell !

i keep this rom running on the box for sure !
