K-R42 - wasser firmware - JB Android 4.2.2

Hi All
I finally got my k-r42 to work with Wasser 1.2.3 New Version

What I did was to unpack with the RKTOOLS 3066 :
Unpack wasser 1.2.3 new ver
Unpack the Chinese : update-rk3188t-bx09-android4.2.2-yigeweiye-20131101
unpack justXBMC 1.1.1

Then in RKBATCH tool 1.37 I set : loader + boot + kernel from Chinese bx09 image
Recovery from justXBMC 1.1.1
And all other (parameter + misc + system )from Wasser 1.2.3.
Erased nand/IDB and flashed rom.

box booted just fine , Nand mounted correctly , lan works , wifi works (even at the same time)
normal boot about 10 seconds, antutu score 17206.
I just needed to go to settings and set resolution to 720p , because screen was not showing all.

then I flashed only wasser 1.2.3 new ver kernel + boot - and box still booted (-: , all working as before.
Antutu score :16104 lower than stock kernel ?, strange .
so I flashed OC kernel : kernel-k_r42_new_revision_cpu1704_ddr720_1080p_gpu600h
antutu score : 16204 .
re-flashed bx09 kernel back and tested again : same result as before 17206.

I am running wasser image with only Chinese loader and justXBMC recovery ,
should the make my box run lower speed with wasser kernel ?

I do not care much about antutu , what kind of improvements do i get with wasser kernel ,
that i do not get with Chinese kernel ?

hope this will help all who have issues with getting wasser/other roms to work .
also maybe will work directly with just to choose Chinese loader + justXBMC recovery , or just one of them , I did not test.

If you didn't flash your device by this quite strange and long way you would have your device in perfect condition with AnTuTu 19000+ and without stuttering when you play Full HD movies.

Why i ask is in your photo next to the wifi connector on the main board should be the wifi chips where you see the big 0 hand writen on the board. I dont have this model but all units i have gotten from CN have another board that goes in that spot. Some i have gotten with out it and no wifi working.

I desperately need your help with the k-r42 that my friend purchased from geekbuying in September. He got it two weeks ago. Please see attached images of the inside of the device.
He wasn't pleased with the performance of the unit so I recommended him to flash wasser's ROM. He flashed both revisions the OLD and the NEW. With both of them the WiFi doesn't work. I feel very bad about it because I recommended him to buy this unit and I recommended him to flash a custom ROM. Now he is really upset and me too.
How can he make it working again. He didn't backup the original FW.

I wish it would have worked for me me the normal way , but it doesn't .
my board i guess is not like others , as you can read for some have issues with the firmwares that others do not.

Any way i do not play 1080p and i run/prefer my box like many others at 720p , and those work perfect , navix-x ....
so far no reboots , no stuttering , box stable and fast ,lan works fast , wifi show 150mbps. finally i enjoy it ever since i bought it .

by the way its not just wasser the did not work normal also HFW 1.2 - 2.0.4 do not work
i have not tested if my method will also work with those now.

Kris i had the same issue as you when i used different Chinese kernel,

at end I am using all the components from the wasser tool except loader and recovery should performance still be affected ?
maybe i am running wrong antutu tool which one you are using ?

It is all good now. My friend ordered by accident the T-R42 model but he didn't realize that till I asked him to open the box and send me some pictures. Then I compared them with pictures from the thread about T-R42 and saw that they are identical. And, only after that he checked his order and got embarrassed

No Screen After Flash

I as well get no image on my TV once I have flashed with this firmware. I loaded the firmare on, and then tried several kernels with no luck. I can sometimes catch a glimps of it if I unplug and plug back in my hdmi cable. Its almost like the box doesn't have enough power. I had this issue with a android stick before where if an airmouse was plugged into it, the screen would black out until unplugged again.

I seen mention in a post above not to stick with 1400 kernel. I don't see that is a download option in this thread. Can someone advise or point me to a link? Maybe a slower clock speed would bring up the image?

I REALLY want to get this firmware working. It seems to be the all time fix for these temperamental boxes.

ok..i have 2 more questions...i have k-r42 with wesser firmware 1.2.3 and kernel kernel-k_r42_old_revision_cpu1704_ddr720_1080p_gpu600h everything is ok but....my flymouse after 20 - 30 sec don't respond i most give a command from remote control and after that it warks again 20 - 30 sec and second problem...i don't have 1080p..it shows me the resolutions...is checked but in diagnostic shows me only 720p is active...xbmc show 720 p everywhere is 720p but is seted on the 1080p...what is the catch? thansk in advance.

Yes I have two tips.
When you flash your device using RKbatchTool you mustn't apply "Upgrade" button. "Restore" is correct in this case. And you have to wait for up to 5 min. after RKbatchTool finishes his work. Then you'll see "X" bootanimation screen.

perhaps i wasn't clear in my post, but i do clicked the "restore" button instead of the "upgrade" button ...

i presume i'm doing something in the wrong order ..

* i disconnect hdmi/ethernet/spdif cable on tvbox
* i connect otg usb cable from pc to tvbox
* connect power supply on tvbox while holding down reset button
* rkbatchtool recognizes the tvbox, green box appears
* i select the firmware and click "restore"
* after a minute there comes a green line which says "restore succesful"
* i disconnect power & usb cable, and connect it again to tv width hdmi
* black screen on tv ....

I need to wait 5 minutes before disconnecting the power supply & usb from tvbox?

I don't disconnect anythink... the benefit is, I see whether the output comes or not...
I only do
* disconnect power and than connect power supply on tvbox while holding down reset button (while otg usb cable is connecting)
* flash and then wait for output (restarts automaticly)

I run into the exact same situation as krisvansnick , I tried both the 1.2.3 old revision and 1.2.3 new revision firmware and the results are the same. I flash the firmware with RKBatchTool as usual, after RKBatchTool reports 'Restore Done Success', it triggers the TV box to reboot automatically, I am able to see the Android Logo on my TV, and see message saying formatting..., and then the TV box reboots again, and goes to a black screen (same situation if I unplug the device and plug it back again). Now I have to flash back to lewy 2.0.4 to make it work again.

It will be great if wasser will be able to resolve this issue, as I heard so many good comments about this firmware and I really want to use it.

FYI, my device's date is 2013/05/31, 1331. Hope this helps.

i'm experiencing some troubles after updating to rom 1.2.3 (tried new & old version)
used the rkbatchtool to select the firmware, upgraded my k-r42, update succesfull but when i connect k-42 to tv I , tv screen remains black ..
connected with hdmi, sound via spdif to bose lifestyle surround system.
i change resolution of tv to 720/1080, both doesn't work ...

also tried the solution vipersvcd proposed in the post before, but always getting error message that loader file is not valid ... perhaps invalid downloaded file (took about 3 hours to download), now trying again ..

i'm not really an expert in this matter, any tips ?

Hi

I know now why i had slow speed with wasser kernel on antutu test ,
kernel is setting my box to 1200mhz same as others pointed out .
even oc kernel do the same .

so using the perl scripts i have patched my stock kernel with the sam vsync fix and run the overclock script after , and flashed with
these settings kernel_vsfsam_cpu1704h_gpu798h_ddr720.img
My antutu score is now 18604

Also i would also like to know how to increase brightness\contrast ?

for now i increased with TV and its ok .

There is some strange IR remote behaviour some time ,
It seem the key preses are duplicated or the a key acts like its stuck ,

I see there is a IR remote fix.zip in the T version of the firmware ,
Is this relevant to this firmware too ?
