    Re: NEW - Finless ROM 2.0 - KitKat 4.4.2 for AP6210 wifi - BETA

    I've just reflashed this ROM, this time using darrellr's kernal. I can report a noticeable improvement in playback on xbmc!

    For example, I have a HD copy of 'Rush' which was previously unwatchable due to lag. Just tested and running very smoothly. I'm using the latest Gotham nightly.

    One issue though, with the new kernel the desktop icons/text etc are way too small. Is this easily sorted? DPI settings or something? Any help is appreciated.

      Re: NEW - Finless ROM 2.0 - KitKat 4.4.2 for AP6210 wifi - BETA

      First of all thank you very much for the efforts creating this ROM!

      I flashed it several days ago with all default parameters and oc kernel "kernel_cpu1800h_gpustock400_ddrstock400".

      Here is my feedback and some problems with it:

      - The problem with playing video files is gone (choping);
      - Real 1080p;
      - Several restarts during using dolphin browser with adobe flash 11 (some modified version);
      - Have lost one of the USB ports! The USB port used for flashing (the small one declared as USB host port) is no longer avaiable - it can't detect mouse/kbd or flash memory.

      The problem with the USB is most annoying - can you please tell if you have observed the same or this is only my problem? Can this be solved by some setting adjustment or external program? I've tested a lot of otg/host/file manager programs from the store without success.

      Thanks in advance.

        Hi Bob,

        Any chance you could use the old cursor you had on previous MK908ii ROMs? This little black thing is almost impossible to see.

        Or if anyone could advise how I might be able to change it to a custom image?

        Thanks

          MK908II - better than previous versions.

          MK908II

          Extremely much better than previous versions.
          (Especially with xbmc now stream 1080p)

          Bugs I've found.

          As of Dec xbmc night

          Prioritize!
          Mouse pointer is sluggish / delay with kitkat 2.0 (Especially with xbmc)
          wifi is not as effective as your previous versions.

          Not as priority. (My personal thought)
          The sound always hope to the max, no big problem.
          Crashes once a night, no big problem.

          Say, any more that have the same thought?

Or when it does connect, it disconnects in seconds. Tried differend kernals including the stock one from the kitkat_oc_kernels.zip file. When I use the 4.4.2 rom from geekbuying there's no problem.

            I've opened the casing:

            It's an AP6210 chip so I guess it should work.

            Any idea's would greatly be appeciated...

            Cheers
            I have built a test kernel for "j22" which is apparently same as yours.

            verywhere is CX-919II black with orange antennas, mine is white with green antennas so not sure if gpios are the same, but from reports my modified kernels work on black ones so it could be the same
            I'll add the Dropbox link in a minute or so

            Please provide feedback if you test. The source file for the GPIOs appears to have changed. I think I've got the right one but I have no TV stick to test with.

            [edit: lonely2k5 reports this boots and wifi works on his J22 variant.]

              Just to be sure, I have a CX-919 v2 but it has just one antenne. Is the test kernel suitable for that device as well? Here's the inside:

                No idea. Try the 'standard' one if wifi/BT don't work then try this one

                    Downloads doesn't work for this ROM yet. You can access your downloaded files through a file explorer.

                      Hey Bob,

                      I'm using this ROM with Darrell's kernal at the moment. The problem I'm having is that all menus, icons etc are way too small since changing kernel.

                      Last night I booted up and everything was back to normal size but tonight, small again. Any ideas what would cause this instability?

                        Kasty rooted 4.4.2 kitkat

                        With kasty 4.4.2 rooted firmware and rkbatchtool its so easy to flash firmware. Switch and restore thats all. For newbie like me its perfect.
                        with your rom i have to be ready to drive spatial shuttle !!!!
                        WHY is so complicated ? Is there any more easy way to do ?
                        thanks

                            I have GK525 box key device, there is no any button to push and hold on this device so I do not understand what I have to do exactly. I do not want to brick it

                              My guess is: put (and hold) a pen in the reset hole.

                                RKbatchtool do this perfectly by "switch" button and I already have the good rockusb drivers installed so I understand that I just have to go straight to the last step "Flashing the ROM" from the readme file to proceed ?
                                let me know if thats right ?
                                In other hands I see here many people with GK525 and they still have 1200Mhz CPU clock after this rom installed ?
                                I already have the rooted Tronsmart 4.4.2 kasty kitkat so I understand that I can just flash the kernel 1080p from post 142 ? right ?
                                thanks
