it sounds the hbo video uses 24hz, so you need monitor/tv with 24hz in your case. I don't think it's issue in firmware, but rather in media player app

Actually it plays fine at both 60hz and 50hz on stock 006, 007e, and 008. It started the stuttering under this kitkat rom and stock 009. So it used to work at 60hz. Did something change as far as display freq between 008 and 009 or your kitkat rom?

Oh do you know a programming that can set GPU? As far as I know nofrills CPU and others only let you set the CPU speed unless I'm missing something

OK so really pleased with results on new kernels. However, best results achieved with 720p as requested but I have lost the taskbar so cannot back click or open up multi tasking etc and now my menus and defaults apps are located vertically down the left hand side and have different search widgets etc on home screen. Was this intentional as it was not the case when I tried the 1080p version. One thing I will say is antutu scores are great - back at 20300

Please change the default lcd_density in /system/build.prop from 240 to 160 if you uses 720p kernel


ro.sf.lcd_density=240 -> ro.sf.lcd_density=160

i think the 720p kernel doesn't work correctly with 240 lcd_density. Could you please try to flash 1080p kernel, then change the lcd_density to 160 and then flash 720p kernel again.

Actually since changing LCD density I haven't had the system.ui problem appear again. However I will do this if you want for your own research or if there's another reason I should. At the moment everything seems perfect.. Touch wood!

issues booting up

Hi all. Firstly - amazing rom wasser!!
Just wondering if anyone has experienced the system not booting properly.
I had this rom running fine for about 4 days but today I cant get past the boot image - the four colour kitkat startup animation. It just keeps going with the animation and never loads to the android 'desktop'.
I had this happened one other time with the 'other' kitkat rom. I had to re-flash to get it working again.
I'm hoping there is an easy fix that doesnt require starting from scratch each time.

Okay, got openvpn work; strange the typical openvpn apps that work for me on other device don't here but luckily openvpn settings works just fine after installing OpenVPN Installer by Sascha

Are you using ART by any chance? I kept seeing these messages when testing it. Also reboots were very slow. Reverting back to using Dalvik got rid of all these.
