    Optical vs HDMI passthrough

Some people have reported that passthrough works on this rom with Wasser's XBMC or SPMC. Unfortunately no passthrough joy here using wasser's1.04 rom and wasser XBMC on my X7 via HDMI to my Onkyo NR626 reciever. When you report about passthrough could you please state whether you are using optical or HDMI. Several roms (JB and KK) have passthrough working via optical. I have tried several roms and none have worked with HDMI. I too have had random XBMC crashes on startup but none during playback, just buffering type freezes when rewinding to far or too fast requiring xbmc restart to fix. Love the speed boost moving from minix ver10 to wasser KK.

Try the modded KODI-helix with passthrough enabled by Karel. You'll find a link here, on this page. It works beautifully for me on Wasser's 1.0.4. It's true, I use optical connection to the 5.1, but it might also work with HDMI and it seems very stable, no crashes, very nice image, brighter and bigger than Gotham, very fast also, no freezes or endless buffering. You can install it side by side with Wasser's XBMC or SPMC.

I have the same issue pass through only works via optical. Pass through will however work on my ouya via HDMI. I have never found a ROM with working pass through via HDMI for the x7 with my Panasonic receiver.

              CIFS/SAMBA share

Hi Wasser, I've all my Photos, Movies, Songs (~1.5TB) in my FreeBSD server and accessing through CIFS/SAMBA. I tried various apps from Play store to mount CIFS/SAMBA automatically and no joy.

In Quickshot V3.1, there is a solution to this problem according to release notes (-New nfs and smb scripts in init.d, to mount your network points automatically in each reboot. You need to edit them to activate.).

Can you add this feature in next FW release? Thanks a lot for your great work.

I tried everything i found in this forum with no luck too. i think the only one who is able to help up is wasser. This is his own firmware and he knows better how to fix that problem. So if wasser knows what the problem is i would appreciate to share it with us? Kokoui posted a screen shot with the changes he did. I did exact the same thing but with no luck. If anyone else is able to check it out and let us know the final results.

                Thanks

I tried with KODI-helix by Karel and i have optical cable from minix x7 to kenwood but DTS track in mkv film don't work, the receiver does not recognise the 5.1 channel and continue tick tack sound

                  Work correctly AC3 track

                    Guys,

I am still on v1.0.3, and had to do a data wipe on it as it was really becoming buggy from my xposed experiments.

I am having this issue with HDMI sound. I usually plug the 3.5mm jack in my Hi-Fi amp as i am a Stereo geek and avoid surround at all cost, Sound is perfect there, though if i switch back to HDMI sound, i have audio delay, or lipsync...

it's at least a half a second, i thought it was me twiddling with SoundAbout, but this time i did not install it at all and the issue is still there...

Anyone having this issue, is it present in 1.0.4 as well, this is going to be strange to reproduce as i havent done anything at all

Just a quick suggestion, try setting the channel output from 5.1 > 2.0 and let your decoder do the work. Also I take it your setting in android > sound mode is spdif passthrough. These are my settings and I don't have any issue with KODI-HELIX or wasser xbmc 1.3

Man I had a very similar issue! I tried everything but still a massive lag in wasser 1.0.4.
I read the entire thread to look for help but nothing. When I asked on here for help @ngoal suggested trying a different hdmi port on my tv. Hey presto it worked. My problem was I had hooked the x7 to a AVI/hdmi out which caused issues.
To resolve the problem I updated my tv software drivers and now all the hdmi ports work the same.

Hope this helps you out bud?

BTW... version 1.0.4 with the max OC'd kernel from 1.0.3a rocks on my x7 especially with KODI.

No doubts about it, my X7 it´s stable even at the maximum overclock, but unfortunately the OTG - USB port is lost/dead after flashed, so I had to reflash to the basic package v1.0.4 without any OC kernel, which is frustrating and time consuming.

No problem for me with the big Logitech 5.1. As it was suggested before, see if you have the correct sound settings in android ----SPIDF passthrough. I have 5.1 in KODI sound settings and it works perfectly.

Wasser's KK 1.0.4 + KODI by Karel are the best. It feels like I've got a new improved Minix.

If you don't mind me asking what are you using the otg for? Some apps like otg viewer lite let you use the otg? I'm watching spiderman 2 right now so can't test the otg, soon as I'll bang in a otg > usb cable and connect a wired mouse I know works.

Anyway why not ask for the kernel from 1.0.4 so you only had to rebuild the kernel.img? I can easy unpack a ROM bro....

I what you saying I can't belive 4 months ago I nearly give up on minix! Now wasser and KODI have joined forces on my x7 it has changed the face of things entirely
If you try dropping the channels back from 5.1 > 2.0 you should get less low frequency hiss from rear output

I had mentioned long time ago the need of OC kernels v1.0.4 because the existing OC kernel v1.0.3a the OTG port is not working/dead, but unfortunately this petition was not attended; some body else had mentioned the same.
I use OTG port for a wired original sony PS3 game controler, but as well to read simple USB memory sticks and using the option "connect to PC" I can cut the power from the port and unplug safely the memory stick, then uncheck again the "connect to PC" option to power up again the port and connect again any device you require. In fact for me is one of the ports that I use much more than the others. You can easily check with the provided otg cable and any memory stick. Anyway there is not a reason to disconnect or kill any external port, mic/headphone jack, SD slot card, ethernet port , etc, just because an OC kernel is flashed if the original base version of the rom is OK; those just are examples; that means that the OC kernel flashed is not 100% working. In this case the OC kernels v1.0.3a are killing the OTG port.
So, Ant if you have the skill to produce the right OC kernels for the v1.0.4 that will be fantastic if you do it and shared. Thanks.
