Hello from Greece. I am using this Rom quite a while now. I am having this problem. The tablet goes out randomly about every 2 or 3 days and I have to press the little button on the back , to make it work again. Do you think it is a kernel issue ?

It has been a while since I flashed it and I don't remember. I also renamed the kernel file names so in my folder they are as kernel1 , kernel2 etc. I will have to test again and report back. The good thing is , I understand it is a kernel issue.

Yeah it sounds like the Sleep of Death (SOD) that I get with just about every kernel (including stock).

You can also get it back by pressing and holding the power button for at least 20 seconds, then release and press the power button again until the boot logo comes up.

I've found that rebooting the tablet at least once per day helps. Currently I've got a Tasker routine set up to do it while I sleep.

I thought I would try art again, since most of my apps now claim art compatibility.

I went to developer options and changed the run time to art, it asked me if I wanted to reboot, I said yes, but after it rebooted it didn't regen the art cache.

I looked again in developer options and it still says dalvik . Repeated this two more times, same result.

Has anyone successfully changed from dalvik to art on 1.8.2?

Try checking logcat (either with adb or with an app, e.g. Logcat Extreme)... in my case I found out it was Xposed that reverted the vm to dalvik (it was written in the FAQ of Xposed if I had cared reading them, damn me)

Yep, I was just trying to say that by reading the logs maybe you could find which component isn't allowing the system switch to ART. In my case it was Xposed, it was clearly written in the system log, you might be as lucky as me :-)

Do you remember what the error said?

Are you using art now with 1.8.2? I'm pretty sure I enabled it with 1.8.0, but changed back to dalvik because some apps I depend on weren't compatible.

I've done a reboot with ART "enabled". Here is the first part of logcat... near the bottom you may notice the line:

Here it's clear what the problem was... try looking for errors in the first part of the log, when the system starts up... maybe you can find out something similar.

Thank you for your help. I finally found the xposed error. I had uninstalled the xposed installer without first using it to remove the framework. I reinstalled the xposed installer, used it to remove the framework, then uninstalled the installer.

Then changing to art worked. I've got to reflash the rom with a 6gb system partition to gain more space for apps, but at least it is working now.
