    Use this version:

This is build for M8 and your remote should work with it.

    Hi there,

    i have the m8 2gb with the roundish remote and I use the S82 image 5.0.3 ,
I thing it's run smoothly, sec is working so i use my sony tv remote but the original remote does not work.
Is usefull to wok with the original remote bgecause when the standby problem fixed you can power on the device with it.

I think you have to try again the s82 build. These are made for 2GB devices. The mx3 are for 1GB devices. Therefore you have only 1GB with this build.

already so after messing around and looking threw the folders on the .ru site i came to find a file called : http://amlinux.ru/image/4.97.1/OpenE...utoinstall.zip = I downloaded that added it to my SD and flashed. BAM the MXIII booted with the openelec boot logo.
    After that i then flashed : http://amlinux.ru/image/5.0.3/OpenEL...0.3-update.zip
    the box works great.

some reports from my finding so far
    under system info
    Summary screen
Free memory is reporting 665MB free how is this if i have a 2GB unit ?
    Hardware screen
    Serial reports as : 1900000000000000
CPU temp reports as : 123F to 124F
Total memory : 817MB - again this is a 2GB unit why only half is shown
    Free memory : 664MB

    OpenELEC settings
Bluetooth : No BlueTooth Adapter Found.

Wireless and Wired work no problem

    unit shows 4 cores running

I know the serial number dont matter , The cpu temp is just BS as i feel the unit and its not baking.
The one thing that i have a ? about is the ram. how can i tell this is really a 2GB ram. without opening it ? How the hell do i open it anyway ?

Thanks for that information. Saves me from trying 5.0.5.

I have a MXIII branded to HausBell dont know if this means anything, Its a 2GB ram version.
I have downloaded a bunch of the OPENELEC images with the name MX3 in the file name. NONE will work. I get boot logo for about 4 secs and then black screen. the box just does nothing. I can then recovery and reflash to a working stock or another rom.
I even tested : OpenELEC-Amlogic.S82.arm <--- bad move after flashing this image the system folder seemed to have moved. anything I did after that would = ERROR 7 and abort the install.
I then used USB BURNER TOOL to reflash the box to a stock M82_108k4.img , That was fine. right after it flashed it rebooted.

    So my list
    OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX3.arm-4.97.2 to OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX3.arm-5.0.3
I have tested and all result in a blackscreen after the boot logo

    anyone know whats up

Yes, I saw that, wish he would tell us what he changed. Since I am using my box as a stand alone DVR, writing to the micro SD card is a must. Also, it has to keep the same mac address.

Extract the recovery.img from a newer zip file and copy it to the root of sdcard. I think there is a newer stock recovery version. Maybe that works.
And delete "factory_update_param.aml" file. This is only needed if you want that the recovery autoflash a zip.
