Well after failing to use ADB with a Live USB of Ubuntu and failing to get a stable VM working, I just figured out a way how to dump it internally in my android device(Which should keep all permissions intact and such) and I've got another copy for Finless to fiddle with. Whenever your ready to play with it send me a PM Finless so I can setup someway to upload this to you.

Nextbook 7P12 SE WO/Pinhole and Is AMLogic Device
I orignially posted this post here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ght=#post45099
I was directed to this thread. Here's what I have:
Next7p12
SN: YF0912xxx
No Pin Hole for reset
AMLogic Chip
Now I found an AMLogic burning tool. It only burns to the rom, but doesn't dump it. When I run it, it looks for these files:
usb_spl.bin
u-boot-orig.bin
uImage_recovery
Here are my questions. Are these three files essentialy the same files used for the 3G dongle root but under a different name? If so, can they be renamed to be used with this program to run a update on an AMLogic device?
If not, can the files be culled from the current Next7 Root, and repackged under these names?
Is it possible this program will bypass the signature verification?
I also found a developer site for the AMLogic chip.
Under the ARM section, it has Kernel sources, drivers, image releases and alot more. Can any of this be used with a rooted rom, converted into the right bin files and then used with the flash tool?
I know I'm asking alot but I am trying!

Hey, Bob: If you make the set of images from the dumps that people have uploaded, plus the uboot from the xda-developers (in Patch.zip, a file named u-boot-aml-ucl.bin), it may pass the signature verification. What do you think?
I believe "uImage_recovery" is run anyway without a signature verification. Then it is flashed to rom by itself. The next time the tablet boots (or immediately following the flashing) it boots into uboot that's when it fails a signature verification. That is my guess though, trying to fit all the pieces into the whole picture.
So, put it together how the Patch.zip works is this: It boots into uImage_recovery. The uImage_recovery is built with tools to mount sd card, and flash itself and/or u-boot-aml-ucl.bin into the uboot partition. Then it boots normally and passes or skips signature, and run the script factory_update_param.aml. The script puts su into the system.

Netflix working
Originally posted by melcab View PostThanks for your continuing work on this. I've been keeping tabs (pun intended) on this thread so that I can root my kids' tab and get Google Play on there. Also having problems with Netflix. Will rooting fix that? Having Netflix is one of the main things my kids use it for.

Re: Nexbook AMlogic root WORK!
I'm not sure what to do? I use Sprint. I called them about a 3g dongle and they said that since they don't use SIM cards they couldn't activate a 3g dongle. They tried to sell me a usb 3g modem but don't know if an android tablet will even see it. And I don't want to open a new account with AT&T or Verizon just to root my tablet.
I have an otg cable. Here's my question. If I tether my cell phone to the tablet to share the connection, what will it show up as? 3g? I'm at work so I can't try it. Anyone have an idea?

Another method to get stock rom
Originally posted by Finless View PostTry using the update.zip file I provided a few pages back! It might work on the MX.
Bob
Starting to get sick of this tablet.
Anyways was going to ask, if we use the OTG root method and then flash a modded 3e recovery (like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909213) and then write clockwork mod and do a full dump, wouldnt we get a almost complete stock rom?

NextBook8P12-4G rooted with Google Play
Thanks for all...
Got NextBook7P12-8G (with Google Play not rooted yet) and NextBook8P12 (rooted)...
Extracted /system/app from both devices, there are 29 files on NextBook7P12-8G that are not in NextBook8P12. Copied over all 29 (removed Chrome.apk as is does not work on NextBook8P12), and did a factory reset, now I have a NextBook8P12 with GooglePlay (also turned GPS on in /system/build.prop) and location services also now works...
Attempted to upload some of the files but some are bigger then 2M will try ZIP's...
Can't seem to post files at this time will keep trying...
Now looking at frameworks and other files to compare to see why Chrome does not work...
Still waiting for root on the NextBook7P12-8G...
If there is anything I can extract from tne NextBook7P12-8G to assist let me know.
Once that is done will work on finding a way to shrink the sdcard and grow the system data size from ~400M to 1G...
