1 - I think you are referring to the "spare parts" app by settings and two geared icon - could just get it from the play store (or download and sideload it)
2 - the taskbar is brought back but just dragging it back up. Place your curser in the middle bottom of the screen where the two down arrows would be, click and drag the taskbar back onto your screen
3- Use "boot animation changer app" - its on the play store and works fine with this rom.
4 - Its easy to change the default homepage on the browser - just go into settings, its right there
5 - I don't know if the boot times can be improved much, I just leave mine on since it uses so little power anyway.
Hope this helps you enjoy your device - trssho91

2 -ok, I finally got the taskbar to come back using your trick - thanks
3 - I was able to change the "boot animation" but I can't figure out how to change back the first "boot splash screen" - from what I understand it's baked into the bootloader or something and it's hard to change. It looks a little bit "warez/silly" to me.
4 - I realize I can change the homepage. But if settings like my home page are set to some commercial property, it makes me wonder what other changes were made, such as keystroke loggers or spyware for commercial gain.
5 - boot times are not a big deal but I was just saying it was affected.
Thanks for your comment!

Re: NEW - MK808 - Finless 1.6 Custom ROM
Hmm.. Well I do have an idea... You could flash the stock ROM and backup the apk using titanium backup, then you would have it. Maybe some out there has the apk already. I know what you mean now about the initial screen and I think you're right, its in the boot loader. It doesn't bother me, but I know we can flash just the kernel...maybe you could flash just the boot.IMG from cm10, it uses the same kernels so it might work. I haven't seen anything to personally worry me for spyware, but I may replace the browser apk from my gnex just for fun. My gnex is Verizon so its behind in updates and the versions are close.

EDIT: Ok I see now it isn't an old router but damn it looks close - still thanks for the idea.

Re: NEW - MK808 - Finless 1.6 Custom ROM
Lol nope a old dlink 10/100 switch, a set of antennas from a router, old main board heatsink, 80mm fan grille from a old PC PSU, and of course a USB hub.... just parts I had laying around. Did I mention the six pack of beer, that part is important.Odds are a router would be easier since the antennas are already mounted.
I have a gk802 I plan to build next, once the software is stable for me to daily driver. I'm using a 3com router for that one.

Sorry for newb question but...I am new to stick computer when rooting or flashing custom firmware...
My question is...
When we flash firmware for mobile, we take back-up with custom recovery in case anything goes ROM...So, hardly any chance of bricking phone..
In case of this sticks, is there any way to do the same process...i.e. backing up last ROM before flashing to avoid any chance of bricking device...?

Edit: It does work, also with my RF dongle connected to OTG! It just takes a little while, so I was probably too impatient before...
I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow (49.6 mpg over 38k miles in Scion xB)MK808 w/Omegamoon kernel, CWM recovery, & Finless 1.7 ROM

Active cooling
Here is how I modded mine:
I used a low-profile 30x30x7mm fan (5v, 0.15A) installed on the top, so that the air flow passes over the heatsink through the WiFi chip out the holes on the other end. Seems very efficient and has quite esthetic look. The device is powered by 2.5A PSU and running finless 1.6 with 2dark4u kernel (720p, v1.4). Just some more finetuning like making more outlets is planned for this week-end.
