To send in Flashmode I use the "switch" to RkBatchtool because the tool by Finless error "reboot to flash mode".

The problem is that if one day I should have problems with nand corrupted, how do I connect the MK to the PC if I can not activate "Connected to PC"?

    P.S: I installed 1.6a and 1.7
    1. connect your MK808 with AC
    2. connect with monitor or tv
    3. plug in mouse in otg
    4. let it boot up
    5. go to settings -> usb -> connect to pc
    6. unplug your mouse
    7. connect MK808 otg with PC usb
    8. launch RkBatchtool
    9. you should see a pink square
    10. click on switch
    11. you should see a green square
    12. launch FinlessFlashTool
    13. You should see that your RK so and so is found
    14. erase nand
    15. if erase nand was successful, flash rom
    16. pray

No, I managed to install Finless 1.6 and 1.7.
      The problem is another:
To send the MK in Flash mode I need the key "switch" to RKBatchTool, then after reboot automatically with the flash tool Finless read RK RK Loader etc etc and I can do the flash.
To use the "switch" to RKBatchTool I need to enable "Connect to PC" on MK, but if for some reason (for example) i can not start MK (bootloop, nand corrupted), I will not be able to send the MK in Flash mode (using the switch RKB) because I can not enable "Connect to PC" ...

      I hope I was clear.

What I had to do to get Finless 1.7c to install on my MK808

I’ve had a MK808 for a few weeks now and first installed Finless 1.6. Couldn’t get some of the steps involved with 1.6 to work, but the following explanation tells you how I was finally able to get 1.6 installed and then later, using what I had learned installing 1.6, I was also able to install 1.7c.

By the way, my PC is running Window 7 64 bit.

            1. I found that none of USB drivers provided with Finless 1.6 were accepted by Windows 7, neither the 32 bit nor 64 bit USB driver. By plain luck, trying other Android USB drivers I had downloaded, I found that the Android USB driver for Gemei G3 tablet did work.

            2. When the USB connection worked just fine, as expected, the flash tool reported “Found RKAndroid rock usb”, so, as instructed, I clicked on “Reboot to flash mode” and got this error message: “Device can not do flash mode because it is not msc device”. However, I ignored this and instead clicked on “Flash Rom” and it installed the rom just fine.

            3. Finless 1.7c on my MK808 works very well. However, the system Camera app doesn’t work quite right. Strangely enough, when it is executed it will record a video but crashes when I try to take a photo. I installed a couple of other camera apps from the Play store and they also failed to take photos. Incidentally, system Camera app also wouldn’t take photos with the original rom, nor when I installed Finless 1.6.

            4. When I tested video Skype with a friend, using a Logitech C170, both the microphone and the webcam worked okay.

Thank you Bob very much for the ROM update. I’ll be making a donation of appreciation shortly.

I want to tell you a few things that you did wrong or I dissagree with you if that is OK.....

              >I found that none of USB drivers provided with Finless 1.6 were accepted by Windows 7, neither the 32 bit nor 64 bit USB driver.

This is totally not true! I run Win7 64 and these drivers work for me 100% and many many others! So I am sorry something else you did wrong there.

              >When the USB connection worked just fine, as expected, the flash tool reported “Found RKAndroid rock usb”, so, as instructed, I clicked on “Reboot to flash mode” and got this error message: “Device can not do flash mode because it is not msc device”.

You did not read my readme properly! If it says " Found Rock USB MASS storage" that is when you click reboot to flash mode! If it says: “Found RKAndroid rock usb” you are ALREADY in flash mode!!! You do not explain how you got into flash mode but you must have used some other method. But the reboot to flash mode ONLY works when it says MASS storage! Per my README! But no worry, many get this wrong and have made this mistake! Why I do not know

As for your camera APP issue. Honeslty... there are so many USB cameras this is a common complaint "works or does not work" issue. This is a camera APP problem and driver with your camera problem than the ROM. Skype proves it's not the ROM. So only suggestion is try a few camera APPs from google. Good chance you will find one that works. The built in camera APP in my opinion is junk anyway

                Bob
Thanks Bob, for the prompt and detailed reply.

First of all, I tried 32 bit and 64 bit USB drivers from Finless 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 and RockUSBDriver, on both a Window 7 64 bit and a Windows 7 32 bit computer and none ever worked. I was rather surprised when the Gemei G3 driver worked, considering a quick search on the web said that the G3 was Android 2.3 - rather old. (My Windows 7 64 bit PC is rather old and I've downloaded many different programs so perhaps the Windows 7 has gotten a little difficult, although I've had very little trouble with it and no trouble with USB ports as I can recall.)

I'm pretty sure that I read the README 3 or 4 times so I could anticipate what I needed to do, but I didn't realize that there were two different "Found..." messages: "Found Rock USB MASS storage" and “Found RKAndroid rock usb”. Glad to have this pointed out.

I didn't think that 1.7c (or any other of your roms) was responsible for the system Camera app not taking photos, so I'm sorry if my report implied that your rom was at fault. I downloaded two or three camera apps from the Play store and all of them failed to take photos (although several handled video okay) so I figured it was Android - or perhaps some hardware - which was failing. I was hoping that someone might tell me how I could get a USB webcam to work taking photos with the MK8080. (Of course, built-in web cams in my two or three Android tablets work just fine for both photos and video. But, of course, they are built-in, rather than USB external).

By the way, the only things I did to get into flash mode was to press the reset button on the MK808, connect the OTG USB cable to the PC and then Windows bonged to tell me that it was connected to the MK808, so I then fired up Rom Flash Tool and it when it said "Found RKAndroid rock usb" I clicked on "Flash Rom" and the installation was carried out just fine. Fairily simple procedure.

No need to reply to this unless you think it might help some other MK808 upgraders. Even though I've worked with Android tablets for a couple of years, I regard that about 90% of my computer knowledge is still on the Windows side. But I've certainly enjoyed learning about upgrading the MK808 and wish I had 20% of your knowledge and experience.

                  WIFI and BT NOT working

                  Hi!
                  I'm newby on Android...
I have original (?) MK808B from geekbuying. I hade problem with HD video playing. Therefor I flashed my MK808B with fw Finless v1.7 for original MK808B.
Its started but I can't turn on wifi and BT!
It say: Wifi and BT is disabled, can't turn on...
I'v tryed flash with v1.6, the result is the same: wifi and BT missing!
                  Where is the problem?
I van't flashed the stock fw, because the geekbuying dl link is DOWN!
                  Please, help me!

I reflashed Finless 1.7c and this time all my issues have gone. I did not use Titanium Backup to restore apps though. And everything is working fine now.
                      Thx so much bob.
