Hi all
I just bought my second H96 Pro+ 3/32. I already have one set up quite nicely with SCV7A and lots of apps/settings.
Is there an easy way to duplicate my first H96 onto the second? Like a complete backup and restore? I'd like to end up with two identical devices, to save the time configuring the second one.
If so, could someone tell me the procedure? Should I do a flash of the 2nd H96 to SCV7A first, then do some kind of TWRP backup/restore from the first H96?
Or would a full TWRP backup of my first H96 give me SCV7A at the same time?
Thanks

Full backup will be sufficient. However as there are differences between stock and superceleron's roms I'm not sure if it will work without first flashing the rom with Burning Tool or SDcard. It may as You do a full backup and restore (with system, kernel, etc.), but what about other differences between roms (if there are any)?ALFAWISE H96 Pro+ 3/32 (S32-V6) | 7.1.2 | SCV7A | OC kernel | TWRP 3.1.1-0 | 64GB

Yes, I believe it should as You will have everything in backup, everything except /data/media data files of apps. So if You have any bigger game (like GTA San Andreas, not like Angry Birds) than it's data won't be moved and will have to be copied manually.
Movies, music, pictures, etc. have to be moved manually as well.ALFAWISE H96 Pro+ 3/32 (S32-V6) | 7.1.2 | SCV7A | OC kernel | TWRP 3.1.1-0 | 64GB

Ah OK, thanks.
I just got the new H96 and it's the blue PCB. My original is the green PCB. Does that affect anything? If I backup and retstore the original H96 (green) onto the new H96 (blue), will it not work because of the different OS kernel/drivers/whatever required?
If so maybe I will need to setup the new device from scratch after all. Thanks

Dunno, it shouldn't I think. However I never was in position You are with same device, same rom, but two different variants of that device.
I would flash Blue image with Burning Tool or SDcard + update it and than restore all except system and kernel. Just to be safe. If You have MAGISK than before restoring flash it, so there won't be a problem with all the modules.
Restoring in TWRP should work, but I would just play safe.ALFAWISE H96 Pro+ 3/32 (S32-V6) | 7.1.2 | SCV7A | OC kernel | TWRP 3.1.1-0 | 64GB

So you have to install SCV7A on your new box and after that you may restore it from backup of your old (green) box including SYSTEM and DATA, but WITHOUT THE BOOT ENTRY!
Try, but make a backup before that... To see what will happen. In the worst scenario the new box will freeze on starting Android but you will be able to restore it.Last edited by lyubodelev; 13 June 2018, 11:49.

Thanks guys, especially lyubodelev
I'd like to try that, but I have a more immediate problem: I can't upgrade my new box (blue PCB) to SCV7A.
EDIT: OK no worries, fixed. I tried a different method: reboot with button held down, into TWRP, then select the OTA ZIP to install. Don't understand why the normal UPDATE app didn't work, but no bother.
I've flashed SCV4 OK using the normal method. But the SCV7A OTA update won't take. Here's what happens:
1. I flash SCV4 to SD card as usual
2. Boot from SD card with reset button pressed, update applies
3. After boot I have SCV4 running OK
4. I run Update -> Local Update + Wipe Data on the SCV7A zip file, it reboots, says "Updating" for a while, reboots again, and I'm back in the OS
5. But Settings -> About still says SCV4. And the install doesn't seem right - eg there's no Netflix and Youtube links on the home page, and there's no TWRP app installed at all.
Regarding step 4, the OTA update, when I do this I don't see any TWRP screen. I'm sure when I did the upgrade on my first H96 (green PCB), the OTA rebooted into TWRP to apply the update.
I've tried re-flashing SCV4 and then re-applying SVC7A multiple times, always with the same result.
Settings -> About says: H96 Pro+ 7.1.2 NHG47L SCV4 20170826 test-keys. The YouTube app is version 2.00.19, which should be higher if SCV7A was installed.
Any ideas what's going wrong here? Is the blue PCB rom different to the green in how it works and the software it has installed? Why don't I see any mention of TWRP?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I think the main problem was that I put the OTA zip on the same SD that I used for the SCV4 flash. I think that confused the update procedure, such that when I rebooted it just kept re-flashing SCV4. I am sure I have used the same SD card before, but it didn't work this time.
I've got SCV7A now but there's still something slightly odd. YouTube app is only version 2.0.19, where it should have updated to 2.01.04 as of SCV6. It's not big deal because I can manually update it, but I hope nothing else isn't updated right.
I did try running the update again without ticking any boxes (Wipe Data, Wipe Media) but couldn't notice any difference in the update procedure.
