I did the same and saw zero improvement- in both cases around 80C. The problem comes from the fact that those boxes are made from plastic, which accumulates a lot of heat with passive cooling. If you're chasing temps below 75C, you need an active cooling option or modifying the lid at least...
I personally ended up with this 40x40x10 fan at 5V and now the temps rarely go past 40C when watching 4K/60fps content. Super quiet setup btw:

Thanks for advice mirbg . I'll try bigger heatsink first then more advanced mods. It is a nice cheap box in poorly designed shell.

Magendanz, do you plan to release an update of this fantastic rom (based on Vorke) with support of L1? This is the only thing I miss from your previous releases.

I'm having trouble getting the Widevine L1 support up and running. Specifically, the OP-TEE kernel modules are missing from the boot partition. (The insmod calls are in init.amlogic.board.rc, but the files aren't where they're supposed to be. If I add the files back in, it hangs on the logo screen.) So many of these new M8S PRO units are shipping with Widevine L1, I'm reluctant to switch over to a new ROM that won't support it.

What's also aggravating the situation is that I can't get an L1 update for any of my M8S PRO boxes from either online retailer, meaning I have to test on my M8S PRO L...which doesn't support the new bootloader and doesn't have a reset switch. This makes the troubleshooting take considerably longer than it should.

SO @Magendaz u are saying creating a firmware based on Vorke Z6 firmware will never retain the L1 in M8s Pro?

Well, you won't lose L1 by flashing the Shiningworth firmware, but it can't take advantage of Widevine L1 until we do some major work because it doesn't even have the trusted execution environment (TEE) working yet. If you flash back to a ROM based on the original VideoStrong firmware, it will work again.

Hi Sorry if this question will be asked but, i have install this firmware and after all reboot or power off language change to chinesse. Impossible to memorize other language i have try to look in build.prop i not found language... i have try to add :

• ro.product.locale.language=FR
• ro.product.locale.region=FR

but dont work...
I have try to reset factory, same problem, format cache / davlik same problem, full reinstall with Burn Card Maker same problem...

How to solve ??

Can you flash the stock OEM firmware? I've seen different kinds of failures during flash from USB Burning Tool, but never a hang (freeze).

I don't understand. You should be able to install the latest Nano variant over the TVStock variant. (You should do a data wipe, though.)

Are you sure that your device is a genuine Meco M8S Pro? What firmware and method of installation did you use?

Just leaving my experience already installed ROMs of other devices that are compatible with my model (q20x) and none of them came to lock, at worst the screen was black and white, it was difficult to access recovery mode but I did.

I always use a 4GB memory card to place the file using the SD Burn Card Maker tool. Safe with a toothpick or tool remove chip drawer and the procedure starts.

I think there is no Downgrade for this, installing Nano Firmware over using flash by SD Card or PC should already resolve. Although I find Google Play for TV much better.

My update scripts allow downgrade, and they should work from TWRP or stock recovery.
