    Hi Magendanz ,
i received the M8s pro plus box last weekend and boy am I happy that I flashed your ROM!
Steps i did to make it work:
    1. dowload OTA update to USB
    2. start update from within mecool UI, without deleting data
    3. encountered strange issues with a lot of apps crashing ,like Youtube for TV, "normal" youtube still worked, Goole Music crashed etc.
    4. boot into recovery and did factory reset
    5. Start up and : Happy!! everything works as expected

Only hickup: Chromecast is not working, any idea of resolution? Anything that can be done to make this work?

    Cheers,
    Bornello

Google Cast is a longstanding issue documented in the release notes. It will work from the Chrome browser, but other Android apps seem to require a Google license, which we don't have.

Hi everybody, a new Mecool user here.
Received yesterday, and it doesn't have a reset button, so I updated it via USB with the app updater to M8S PRO+ OTA 20171124.183803.V0928.
I don't like the original ROM, and I want to flash this TVStock Nexus ROM, but when I tried to instal it, I have this error "Failed to load map file" so I just reboot to original system. I tried also with the nano nexus rom, and I had the same. The USB are in FAT32 format, and I downloaded the files several times, but I get always the same error. Does anybody know whatś wrong?

    Thanks in advance.
    Richard.

don't be lazy to solder own reset button switch if you want experiment. You still need to add heatsink inside because the factory one is just a joke, so you need disassembly housing anyway.

I think holding one of the buttons on the remote control, maybe "1" or something acts as a reset button. You would have to search the forums for the info.

Can you tell us more about your HS? Model #, can it be found on E Bay, did you glue it or is it being held in place by the case top, how much does it lower the temp, any other pertinent info?

I have been toying with the idea of just adding some metal to the existing HS. I would still re-glue it as it seems a bit loose, i.e. I could already twist it 1 or 2 mm without much force.

              Some heatsink options

28x28x20 best if you cut a hole in the lid
40x40x11 best if you don't want to ! Better if mounted/positioned vertically, back left corner down.

This app adds new Chromecast receiver on tvbox which works pretty good.

Can someone point me to a standalone TWRP for the Pro+? I saw some references to one earlier in this thread but I haven't seen a link.

                    TIA.

EDIT: Never mind, I found one on this thread (post #8 with the 'twrp' search )

And you can always just pull it (recovery.img) from the OTA update archive.

Can anyone confirm this? Is it possible to make a reset by holding "1" button?

Might be the MENU button ?

The theory is that you hold down whichever key it is while plugging in/switching on power supply.

I haven't got it to work so use a paperclip to short where the reset should be ....

I don't have this option in android settinsgs. Why?

Apparently, it isn't included in the VideoStrong Settings for all the variations of the M8S Pro (but it is in the Shiningworth firmware).

Sorry I'm a noob with this box, I just bought one as a gift for my brother.
                          What's the Shiningworth firmware?

And did the fixes that wrxtasy mentioned in the first pages still work for refresh rate switching in kodi?
