plex via app just doesnt work properly with these boxes, but if you install the plex adon and run it throughi kodi it works perfect, its the only way i could get it going

In my m8s pro+ plex video playback work good, but UI is really sluggish. On Kodi Plex plugin everything works great. My plex server is on HP microserver 8. Also I noticed one reacuring problem in image and that is error in media codec file. This error would produce black screen or frozen frame on videos with AC3 and EAC3 audio. In image AC3 and EAC3 decoder are set to google software decoders, and google software decoders are s*it. So to fix this I just removed EAC3 and AC3 support from media codec file. This made my my server to transcode AC3 and EAC3 to stereo and everything works great. I'm not sure that your QNAP is powerphol enough to do this, my server is. My media_codec.xml is in attachment, just replace txt with xml. Also make sure to backup your media_codec.xml before doing anything. Also if you do not know how to replace media_codec.xml, you most probably should not do it.

I had this issue, it was because of a bad version of Mobdro that was conflicting. Upgraded Mobdro and the problem went away. Something is preventing the video from playing through.

After bricking my device I freaked out when I disassembled the box and found out that the reset button is missing... I had to use a paperclip to make the circuit work. It took me three hours to hold it successfully, insert the power supply, make the USB burn tool see the box and finally unbrick my M8S Pro+. Some of us are kinda unlucky

PS: the 10 inch usb extension I found in my closet was the best valentine's gift ever

Hi guys!
I received yesterday this little box and is with the version 20171124.183803.V0928
Sorry to ask here but I can not find any topic how to update my box.
I downloaded the zip file 20171128.111200.v0928 from the OP and copy it to my sd card.
Renamed it to update.zip.
I went to the update app and tried to update locally!
After a reboot i am stuck to the recovery menu with some errors!
What I am doing wrong???

Its ok now.
the problem was with my sd card that the recovery can not read it.
I put the zip file inside a usb stick and everything is ok!
I was able to boot to LibreELEC too except the remote did not worked. I need to find a remote.conf that will work with our remote controle.

Wanted to say thank you for the fantastic work you've done. I flashed your ROM on my new M8S PRO+ and everything is working great.

This is despite it coming from a batch flagged with faulty hardware - (KLMAG1JENB - B041 / SEC 713). I'd contacted Geekbuying when ordering to confirm their stock didn't come from a known faulty batch and was assured it didn't!

There were no issues during the flashing process which I did with the update tool, and the ROM on a USB stick. The setup of ATV was smooth and every app I've installed since is running well. Not sure if I've jagged it or some changes have been made to the hardware. Will update the thread if problems emerge...

Thanks! The online retailers may have more specific information on the affected batch. We've had to just narrow it down by process of elimination.

I seem to have issue with Widevine and/or some applications using TVStock 20171216. The device was delivered with 20170815.182813.V0321, and it was working (getting HD), although I hadn't tested in a while.

EDIT: I updated directly from 20170815.182813.V0321 to TVStock 20171216 using the integrated AMLogic OTA updater, by selecting the zip file and requesting to wiping cache/data.

The corresponding application displays at least one image then freezes. logcat doesn't show anything prominent (the usual OmxVideoDecoder/AmlogicVideoDecoderAwesome setup). There's also this line:
cr_ClientAuthCredsWidevine: Server returned HTTP error code 500
but as I get at least one image...

Any suggestion?

Note: video decoding works nicely (e.g. Kodi)

My tv box restarts only often shortly after turning it on. After restarting I have to turn it off and on again because the wifi disappears. It happens to someone else? Is there any solution?

Hey there,

I installed the latest ROM including data and cache wipe on my M8S Pro Plus 1GB/8GB.

I got some problems with the Netflix app from the Play Store.
For about the first 10 minutes of a episode, the episode does not run smooth. Again and again, the episode stops for maybe 0,5 seconds or a second.
Maybe fine for 30 seconds or a minute, than again a stop for maybe 0,5 seconds or a second.
After this approximately 10 minutes, the episode runs smooth until the end!
The problem appears again, when the next episode starts and disapperas after a while.

There are no problems streaming 1080 HD live tv with TV headend in Android live channel app or streaming big MKVs in Kodi.
Also no problems with streaming Addons in Kodi like Eurosport Player or Amazon VOD

The internet bandwith is enough, the Fire TV stick has no problems with Netflix.

Some tips?
