Rename the zip file to something short like update.zip otherwise the update seems to hang, format the SD card and put the zip file in the root. Use the ota app to install the firmware. That's it. I first installed the latest ota firmware (20170919) then the latest tvstock firmware. I hope that helps.

I have a problem with using burning tool. I bought USB A-A male-male cable. Installed usb burning tool (+ driver). But when i connect M8S PRO + to my PC with reset button pressed, nothing happens. The program doesn't see any device.
I tried different usb ports with no effect. What am I doing wrong?

Just got my box and it's a sec649 so I was lucky!!
ROM works great, awesome with Netflix at 1080 and Kodi.
The only problem I got so far is with FOX app, it doesn't let me play any content, it says something abut don't being allowed to play content in rooted devices...
Is there any way around this problem?

Use the USB port further from the microSD card, and keep trying, this devices is difficult. I have to use a powered USB hub (connected to my computer), since apparently, my computer USB ports do not supply enough power for the box.

Also, I had a "store bought" male to male USB cord, and it did not work on some of my other boxes, so i tossed it, and made my own.

Hello guys,

I may have bricked my box after an OTA update using OTA package from the first page. My box has the SEC652 chip (B041 KLMAG1JENB).

After the update, I got stucked at nexus logo and tried to unbrick using burining tool but got an error at 98%.

I've attached the error log, any help will be much appreciated.

Sh*t... not great if you're living on a Caribbean island and have to get stuff in when friends happen to drop by... ie no easy exchange possible :-(
Ordered box just a day or two before the whole eMMC chip stuff came to light, hoped I got away with it when Iooked at firmware version.

Just to add to the experiences here. I have a box with a SEC713 and 20170815.182813.V0321 firmware, so assumed I was out of luck. Decided to gamble it, and installed the 20170919.150557.V0619 OTA firmware as is floating around today. I used the update app on the Mecool, and did a 'local OTA' update from SD card with wipe user data. A few minutes later all was updated, and the box seems to work perfectly with the updated firmware.
Tried Youtube and Netflix and looking at the quality I'm getting HD streams. So I'm pretty happy sofar, and soon I will look at getting the TVstock firmware installed.

grimmie, show me where I have said that different return policy applies. I will ask you the same question as DEcosse. Have you actually tried to sort it with 3rd party or you have just read that same policy applies?

What happened to me was geekbuying refunded me fully. They were also responsive.
but on many occasions I didn't need to have paypal file a dispute because the sellers knew they're at fault as is the case with geekbuying.
When you file a dispute, it doesn't end for the seller just paying you back if the case rules in your favor, the seller account could be affected.
A company like geekbuying will avoid that.

I uploaded a photo but removed most of the other transaction. You can see my geekbuying purchase and then a full refund occurring there. (and some other refund from sellers)

By the way, Paypal also has refund for return shipping so if the seller insist on return shipping and it's your cost, don't sweat it.
There is though a limit of how many times you can use that in a year. I had also just used that once the other day after i wrongly ordered a glove. Returned to seller, paid return shipping and then applied to paypal to refund me that shipping cost.

How did you update? Ota with a usb or sd card or with a computer? I have the same firmware with 20170815 and looking to update.
