Does this box support fhd netflix with 5.1 DD+?
If not, I think there is a bug in the firmwares.

Guest I found only Miracast.apk (213 kb, too small I think) and when I try to install it I receive: "App not installed. The package appears to be corrupt.". How can I do?

Just copy the whole Miracast directory to /system/app, exactly where you found it in the original OEM firmware. You may need to wipe cache for it to be discovered by the package manager. And also, it wouldn't hurt to set permissions (0755 on directories and 0644 on .apks).

As i am living in Portugal, i am german and married with brasilian lady, i have lots of friends in Germany, Portugal and Brasil and many of them would like to buy the same tv box.

But there is a big problem which stops yet my friends to buy the same box (and sure many other possible clients!!)

There is no switch/pin which we can press (like other tv-boxes) to reset the box.

So here is my request and asking for the following:

Can you change the bootloader of your tv-box Mecool M8S Pro L in that way, that it will be no more necessary to presse the reset switch.
For example as the bootloaders of the Beelink GT! or Shiningworth All-in-One for Amlogig q201 reference boards already have.

One more issue is there existing, but the reset switch problem is more important for me personally:

The underlying OEM firmware from VideoStrong has the problem with wake from sleep, and they've also bundled Google Cast Receiver and are seeing the same problems there.

First mail answer from Miranda:

1. Yes,we didn't do reset key at tv box, but we do at another way, press"MENU"key continuously at remote control when boot up the tv box, then it will go to "recovery" interface, could choose reset/update or other function.

2. The underlying OEM firmware from VideoStrong has the problem with wake from sleep, and they've also bundled Google Cast Receiver and are seeing the same problems there.
Currently Googlecast didn't work, we will move it, and later when it's ready, we will add again.

Guest perhaps this helps? I did not get my box yet, somebody can check, if the box really restart in recovery doing in this way during the boot? Do we get recovery start then?

Unfortunately, pressing the Menu button requires a functional bootloader to be sensing that IR code, so you can't use it for recovery of a "bricked" box using Mask ROM mode. You're also in trouble if your recovery partition is corrupted (which is often the case when I'm developing TWRP builds). So, the MENU button solution is really no substitute.

I'm surprised that they didn't say anything about the wake from standby issue. That to me should be their most immediate priority.

Which key they mean for MENU? I tried the one with three lines (up to 1 button) and the one with home (down to fast forward) but they don't work. It seems that the remote accepts only one key at a time, because kepping pressed one of them when I press the POWER button it doesn't turn on.

i don´t know, also i cannot try it, because my box did not arrive yet.

But there are some things I think that would be resolved as soon as possible:

1. Chromecast support doesn't work and I think it's very important on a device like this.

3. It overheats and freezes. Some users resolved changing heatsink or adding a fan. I wouldn't do this.

Hello dear m8s pro L users. I am in need of an android box and after few days of Youtube and a lot of reviews I somehow (by accident) found this resourceful forum and this nice box.
I want to ask if you guys are happy with it overall? I've read the thread and I can see that there are some issues, but every box I've read about has some issues or lacks features I need.
I plan to install a fan if (when) I should have problems with overheating so that doesn't really bother me nor do any other issues mentioned here.
Main thing I'm looking for is SMOOTH experience, I' don't even mind some slower loading (not too much tho ) but stutters and lags are what bother me. I will use this firmware for sure.

Sorry if a bit off-topic but I would be happy even with a single reply to confirm my choice.

I've got about 20 of these Android media players in my office, and the M8S PRO L is the one that I use every day in my living room. It's my favorite, and I haven't experienced overheating problems yet. (It's November in Seattle, though.) My biggest complaints are the wake from standby, rare hangs (which other boxes also experience regularly), and lack of a reset switch. But that said, it's still the best out there...for now.

Yeah, I'm more interested in DD+ 5.1 from netflix. I have Kiii pro and it won't output 5.1, even tho other apps on the box do... I was wondering if it is unique to Kiii or all mecool boxes. Seems some people have confirmed DD+ 5.1 working, will have to try it on my m8s pro+ next.

also should mention I have a pack of keylayout files to...tho those are pretty easy to get on github

im still trying to get this 0079 0011 id gamepad to work

I will incorporate them into the next release, but I'm not planning on an update just to include the gamepad modules.

i just tried and it works, the one with the 3 lines,
just keep pressing the button when you turn on the box from the wall socket.

Guest i got a further answers from Videostrong and it seems they will change the bootloader in the next update.

i already sent one more mail to them right now asking them once more for the problem wake from standby.

That's great to hear! I noticed that the M8S PRO W already detects on USB OTG insertion, and that firmware is dated 20171107, so I'm surprised the others didn't get it too.

Thanks! It's a shame that they didn't fix the longstanding wake from sleep bug or enable device detection on USB insertion (like the M8S PRO W), but it's nice that they're sending regular updates. Hopefully, this will address the system hangs that we're seeing occasionally.

Glad to hear from you.

1. It doesn't support Chromecast right now.
2. Sleep state, it resets because of low-power design.
3. About it freezes, we have tested and the heat isn't the reason. Please try to restore the factory default settings. And upgrade the firmware as follow:
