Yes, you install Magisk in TWRP recovery. The easiest way to bring that up is to just type "reboot recovery" in a terminal window. (If you don't see a Terminal app, see the release notes on how to enable it.)

Thanks a lot. So I can try to install magisk in TWRP even if I don't remove original root before? No risk to brick?
(First of all I think to make a backup recovery )
    excuse my poor noob question!

You'll never get me to say there's "no risk" in anything you do in TWRP. And let's face it, Magisk is unpacking, patching, and repacking your boot image, so a lot could go wrong. However, now that we have a burn package you can always recover the device, even if you somehow damaged your bootloader.

Guest, with your rom we have the box rooted and that is important for me - so I can install any app which I want, also that ones which ask for rooted device.

Or is there any further advantage to have Magisk or supersu installed?

Well, the firmware is factory rooted and I've set "persist.sys.has.root=1" in the build.prop, so it should be detected as rooted. If some apps insist that it's not, then they're using some pretty braindead algorithms to detect the root state.

The advantage of using Magisk or SuperSU is that you get control over which apps use root access and when. If you install any apps of questionable origin, I would highly recommend this security feature. If not, you're probably just fine.

Guest thanks for you answer concerning the meaning of installing Magisk or SuperSu,did not know it yet. I think, at this moment i will wait and not install, well, i am not sure...I am afraid to break something on my good working box now.

Even so, i have some issues, reported on the other subforum about your other rom (android 7.1 - non TV vesion). Perhaps you did not see it??? (posts #39 and #40)

      Sorry to bother...
The M8S Pro is a bit quite lately... Does this version goes to M8S Pro (without the L) with the L1 active? Does it worth the update over latest M8S Pro you launched (I have update_M8S_PRO-V0928_TVStock-20171116.zip) installed...

      Thanks!

Yes, I should bring this over to the M8S Pro, since it seems to improve overall stability. In addition, the M8S Pro firmware hasn't yet gotten my tweaked OTAUpgrade.apk, which allows OTA updates to be installed via Settings->About->System Update. I've just got a big work deadline before the holidays and haven't had time.

        Thanks for trying to help.
        I know that.
I also know that my M8S Pro is kind of a M8S Pro L once it has the L1 wideline active and I can see Netflix HD in it.
I'm just asking if I can install this version and if there is any difference other than Gapps that justify the update.

ID:	692350i could save it. i rebooted in recovery with the terminal emulator app (reboot recovery), then i installed once more the Guest rom (without wiping anything) and voilá: root again!

should i try with supersu now?? i am thinking...

I tried with supersu now and it worked and it´s rooted, very good,

Also i installed the supersu pro version which i bought some time ago for my Lenovo tablet.

here the link of the actual stable supersu version.

              https://download.chainfire.eu/1220/S...1001224502.zip

i opened my post about magisk and supersu here in the wrong sub-forum, i have the non-TV rom installed. But certainly there is no difference in the issues!?

Good new if supersu can be installed because adaway don't detect factory root.
Perhaps with magisk 14.0 is ok but not with magisk 14.5...
I will try root checker to see if my box is rooted because it's strange adaway don't detect root.
                Perhaps i lost my root...

Magisk 14.5 is in beta, and not working on this rom, like Davbarr opined, 14.0 is the stable version. I have it on my box, and its brilliant. In my opinion, Magisk is better than supersu, as your box will pass safety net with magisk, and still be rooted. It could run apps that don't require root and the one that requires root, both at the same time, the best of both worlds.
