On magisk. I installed it and one bad effect it mess up Netflix some movies work and some don't. So I had to reflash the rom

Magisk 14.5 is in beta, and not working on this rom, like Davbarr opined, 14.0 is the stable version. I have it on my box, and its brilliant. In my opinion, Magisk is better than supersu, as your box will pass safety net with magisk, and still be rooted. It could run apps that don't require root and the one that requires root, both at the same time, the best of both worlds.

I have Magisk 14.0 installed, today made the magisk manager update to version 5.5.0

concerning hide magisk, which apps should i choose to hide magisk? i don´t use netflix, but is it usefull for any other apps to hide magisk?

and which settings you suggest? perhaps you can make screenprint of your settings?

Now there is the new Magisk 15.0 out, but couldn't install. Tried with Magisk manager app, then with TWRP and also OTA update, all without success.

Only version 14.0 was possible to install.

Hi, I am testing this firmware on the M8S Pro L I was lucky enough to win in the giveaway
I tried to configure it like the M8S Pro+ I own which has Magendanz's TV Android firmware (20170825 version).

It seems to me there is a problem with the auto refresh rate switch : after changing the permissions to /sys/class/display/mode pseudo file,
FTMC 16.2.31 does the frequency switch according to video frame rate, however the TV screen becomes completely black and there is only audio. This happens via HDMI both through the Marantz A/V receiver and when connected straight to the TV (Samsung 1080p). When the box is connected through the A/V receiver, changing the HDMI input port on the receiver and returning
to the Mecool input brings back the video but to the original frequency (for example to 50HZ instead of the 24HZ of the movie).
I will save the dmesg log to see if there is something revealing.
The same setup works perfectly with the M8S Pro+.

Any idea ? Anyone having auto frequency switch working ok on the Mecool M8S Pro L ?

I understand that the Amlogic SDK 8.0 is coming out this month in beta, but it might be a while before we get some solid builds from the major TV box ODMs (Shiningworth, Videostrong, AZW, etc.) built on the Oreo SDK.

I am curious about how Netflix is able to work on this device. Even though it has Widevine L1, I've read that Netflix has a list of approved devices and it will only work on those. How is this box able to get around that?

Well, you can impersonate one of those whitelisted boxes by tweaking the build.prop. There are some tweaks I've already made there to accommodate Netflix, but you may need to do more. They're constantly updating their environment checks.

First of all want to thank magendanz for your work on MECOOL box. I have noticed constant freeze. I always have to unplug the device. It happens about every 2 to 3 hours of constant use. The only remedy I found for this was to disable the bluetooth from settings. It's been on for 48 hours and counting without a crash.

Yeah, you need to either remove all the environment checks in the update script, or just flash from the burn package.

Im not sure but i think that you will have to use .img file with tool boot card maker to reflash device in stock state

I have put on my m8s pro L rom from superceleron, but i am having problem with him, few times per day he became frozen and then the only way to unfreez him is to turn him off from the wall plug and turn it back on. So i thought maybe i won't have this problem with this rom.

Now I just need to know how to install it, can i just download ota,put it on usb and them go to update or I need to do something else?

If I remember correctly, I had to use the "Burncardmaker" method to go back from Superceleron's version to Magendanz's ROM>

Actually, the OTA Update is a full block update and includes all partitions, so you should be able to flash over any other build that has the same partition table. You can't, however, flash over a Marshmallow build, since it lacks the new DTB partition. Just remember to include a data wipe.

Flashing from the burn package (.img file) using USB Burning Tool or BootcardMaker should always work, though.
