    Testing now

    Please help!
After changing the settings --> screen --> HMDI to a sub HD resolution, the flickering went away, but as that made most of the experience unwatchable we decided to flash to Finless 2.0 Beta.

The default kernel set in the Rom Flasher for his 2.0 "kit" continued giving us problems, but then we reflashed using the CPU scaled to 1608, 667 RAM and 400 GPU iirc and it worked great. Testing now, to determine long term reliability.

Again all this is on the CX 919, but planning to play around with the MK 802 IV ROM and Kernels today to see if I can settle on something reliable there too.

    Will keep you updated,

It's super easy if you're careful and follow the instructions. Took me about an hour. If you go to http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...733#post127733 and download the two packages he mentions in the post. In one of the zip files is a readme. Follow the instructions exactly (my only deviation is that my CX 919's Blue LED did NOT turn off when i put it into flash mode) and when you get to the part where he says how you have options to select a kernel, follow the instructions and browse to whatever kernel you want to use.Remember, I used the 1608 667 400.

You'll be fine, but good luck anyways.

            720p: https://mega.co.nz/#!ZABwyLCQ!IGXlNy...uK30OOykNMj4Wk

These have sams stutter fix, 667Mhz ram, 1608Mhz cpu, and 600Mhz gpu.

Have fun, and if something breaks my email address is [email protected] =)

If I am not mistaken, the spec for the chip allows for 800Mhz ram, 1800Mhz cpu, and 500Mhz gpu. If I am wrong, please correct me. If you have time (or more trouble sleeping) could you make Kernels with that spec? I would personalty use the 720p one. I put some heatsinks on my chips.

            Thank You for your help...Brad

              Which spec do you mean?
Originally I think the device was being run at 1.6Ghz, 800Mhz, 400Mhz (CPU, ram, GPU)

There have been rk3188 which have been said to run 1.8Ghz, but iirc the cx919 was not one of them. It all depends on which temperature you can keep the different parts at basically.

              My cx919 works fine for my workload with 1.6Ghz, 1333Mhz & 600Mhz. Remember, DDR667 is double data rate 667 = 1333.

What the spec allows and what your particular device can handle may not even be remotely close if you are unlucky. It is a trial and error kind of deal if you are serious about it.

That said, I think many devices handle the settings I use pretty well.

Sure, I can build a kernel for you, what specs do you want? If anything higher than what I use, I recommend active cooling.

              Signature? Signature!

                RK3188 Spec

I saw the RK3188 Spec a few places.

                One is: http://tabletrepublic.com/forum/late...0mhz-3511.html

I assume it needs proper cooling. Of course proper cooling is anyone's guess without studying and understanding the manufacturers cooling spec.

My thought was to try to see how it does at what I understand to be it's rated speed. I added heatsinks but not a fan.

It certainly seems to me that you have more experience with the chip and overclocking in general. I generally do not overclock chips but I thought I might try it as it is within the manufacturer's spec. Mostly just playing to see how fast it can go...

                I was thinking 1.8, 800, 500 (CPU, ram, GPU)

Thank you again for your thoughts and assistance.

Edit: BTW: I looking at your suggestion about learning to fish

720p, memory and GPU are not changed by me, but cpu is overclocked to 1800. This is imho, a strange setup. I see most improvements by overclocking memory, not cpu. As stated earlier, your mileage my vary. You can probably not run this without active cooling.

I use the Logitech K400 and that's all. It works perfect for me for everything and I even taught my Wife to use it! Let me tell you that was a success and an accomplishment! She can barely use the remotes we have to change boxes, etc. She loves it!

                            Keyboard

I also use the Logitech K400 and give it high marks. My brother something smaller and got the Measy RC-12. He is not too happy with it. It does work but it "falses" a lot on the mouse movement. He has now ordered an "Air Mouse" but has not got it (from China) yet.

I also installed the the Null Keyboard (on google play) to stop the on screen keyboard from popping up.

                            Hope this helps...Brad

                                Drivers

The drivers (and instructions) are included in the Finless ROM Zip file in the first post of this thread.

My CX-919 stick did not have a picture on the TV when it went into bootloader mode. You should first see that Windows found new hardware. After the driver install per instructions, the flash software should find the stick. After flashing, the stick should automatically reboot and come up normal.

All of this is covered in the instructions provided in the Finless ROM Zip file. Bob made it pretty easy for us.

                                Don't know if you can use a 64 G SD Card. I am using a 32 G.

                                Hope this helps...Brad
