    well i got bored today so i flashed this rom on my Pipo M8HD because both tablets have the same specs. (yeah I know it's strange to do this ). It's working well so far. Rom runs very smooth. Only Wifi won't turn on and the touch screen is mirorred (if i want to press the nav bar it presses the status bar instead).
    Wee it was worth a try

      I'm uploading the M8HD KitKat right now.

      It's slow...wait a couple of hours.

          BTW, the M8HD ROM has a different loader version than THIS ROM...so be sure to flash it with that ROM.

            Which problem are people facing with GPS?

            Comment

              It is my understanding that GPS has not been activated.

                This ROM runs very smooth and but the only thing is annoying me is the power button issue ...

                Thanks Randy

                  GPS Module is missing

                  The GPS firmware is I believe missing. A sensor test app says 'no GPS sensors', GPS apps do not work, there is nothing in settings that mentions GPS. This was true of the Pipo Chinese firmware; it is not a problem created in the Rileyrom, it is simply that this is (as Randy has explained) built upon the official Pipo version which I found had the GPS feature missing. If you know something different please explain.

                  That said, I would also like to thank Randy for all his hard work on these ROM's. I went back to Jellybean but I may well go to this 2.5.2 version as I felt KitKat was smoother and had less wifi issues. I can do without GPS for a while (though it would be nice at some stage).

                    That's what you get with a beta test. Not all features are supported, yet.

                    Here in a few weeks, I'm sure we should have an official KitKat to work with...but like I've said before, be careful what you ask for....hahaha!!!!!!

                    BTW, except to test GPS, I really haven't used it much on my M6 Pro, so overall, I'm quite happy using KitKat on it and my U8. It does run a lot smoother.

                      filesystems is NOT a directory, it's a file. So to check if "nfs" is mentioned there one needs to open it as a text file (e.g. using less or vi) and visually read.
                      Another possible method if Android Terminal Emulator is installed is to execute the following command:
                      Code:
                      grep nfs /proc/filesystems
                      If "nfs" is mentioned in /proc/filesystems file then it will be shown. Otherwise you will get no output but command prompt only.
                      For example on stock Pipo M9 Pro in Android Terminal Emulator I get for "ext" and "nfs" the following:
                      Code:
                      $ grep ext /proc/filesystems
                               ext3
                               ext2
                               ext4
                      $ grep nfs /proc/filesystems
                      $
                      what means filesystem types ext2-4 are supported but not nfs.

                        I included cifs.ko in the ROM, but these modules have not been tested with KitKat. You guys are doing that. It may be that we need to obtain a new set of ko modules, or find out if we need to do something other than insmod them in the boot.img to get them working in KitKat.

                        Have you tried using CifsManager to mount the nfs drive?

                          My Pipo M9pro tablet still has stock non-rooted ROM installed. CifsManager requires root privileges. I am considering to flash one of the custom ROM which is already rooted.
                          Moreover I am not sure if CifsManager is capable to mount nfs drive without nfs support in the kernel.

                            I add the cifs module to my custom ROMs. I haven't tested it, so it would be a nice confirmation that it works...if you can try it.

                              as far as I understand CIFS has nothing to do with NFS.They are two completely different network file systems. So I am afraid cifs kernel module can't help me with mounting NFS share.

                                Yes, but I also add nfs.ko.
