    Wasser XBMC vs SPMC

The Wasser version does seem to crash on startup rather often
so I have been running the SPMC version for about one week, it does seem more stable

It also handles 5.1 passthru when required

I just wish I could set passthru as the default at the Sound Manager level in the ROM

I can set it on my UT2 with wasser 1.04. I use the HDMI passthru to the TV and out the TV to Optical as my amp is old and has no HDMI inputs, but it works great with wasser xbmc and rom. Does crash at startup sometimes but not as often as SPMC for me.

From the sound menu do I select 5point1 passthrough or just passthrough?

Who is ready for some Lollipop? Not asking for any sort of ETA... Just hoping Dev continues after Android 5.0 comes out.

Scribed henceforth from thy G pad.

Depends. As I am going to the TV and THEN to the amp, I use HDMI passthrough (last option on MY option list). If you're using an optical cable and out put from the device then you want SPDIF option from the list.

Each time I boot, it's there by default when I check it. It might change if you plugged in a USB audio source like a camera with a built in mic.

Not knowledgeable enough to know what is ment by ROM level default....

                  Thanks for the info.

I'm going right from my X7 to amp and I could use either optical or HDMI.

                    Right
I have both connected, the hdmi is essential to get the video
and the sound can go via hdmi or spdif - I can't say I hear any difference
so tend to use the hdmi for both video and audio

App closes if HDMI cable is unplugged or TV is turned off and on.

Does any one else see this behavior on the 104 Firmware with Max Over clocked kernel? If you have an app running like XBMC and you turn your TV off, then on, the app crashes to the desk top. It will also crash if you unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the MiniX trying to auto detect the kind of monitor that is connected.

Sorry, if you have unplugged the TV which is your monitor
how do you know the app has crashed??

When you plug the monitor or HDMI cable back in, you can see the app is no longer running. Also happens when you turn the TV or Monitor off, then on.

I have weird issues too but I'm using a Ugoos UT2 and wasser 1.04 ROM and Wasser XBMC 1.3 and the UT2 is NOT a RK3188T.

If I play a 5.1 file when it's done playing there is no audio output on HDMI. If I restart the UT2 of course it comes back. If I put it in sleep mode this will SOMETIMES restore audio. If I combine going to android settings, sound manager select SPDIF then reselect HDMI passthrough it will return audio.

XBMC will crash to home screen if SOME videos are started and then the back button (to start video over) in XBMC player is clicked on.

Sometimes starting XBMC takes 3-4 attempts as it will start and then crash to home screen.

I think there is a problem with my UT2 but I'm not smart enough to confirm it.
XBMC was fine when I was on Wassers 1.25 (jellybean) and the real 13.2 ARM Gotham. But of course passthrough wouldn't work for me without a lot of video lag.

                            I'm thinking of doing this:

Connect UT2 to PC in flash mode use the RK flash tool to erase NAND manually, then flash this ROM again? Think maybe I didn't get a good flash the 1st time even though it said it did....

I always shut down the Minix before turning off the TV

around 3 years of up time, before someone asks.

Folders mounted by CIFS are empty.

@Wasser,I switched from QS2 ROM to this one and found that Cifsmanager and Cryptonite have mounting problems. In terminal i can mount network share without any problem, but no program can see it. The solution i found in this forum referring to patching the Dalvik or Kernel. I'm a Linux noob and realy don't know how to do that without step by step how to. Is it possible to give to cifs users already patched kernel or instructions how to fix this problem. Thank's.
