I just tried to flash 1.04 to my T428 using RK Batch Tool 1.7 -

Am I screwed? Powers up (red light on) but no boot!
Is still able to go into flash mode!

How should I have flashed it?

Was the firmware also 'Wasser' before? If not you are gone a wrong way. 'Restore' button to flash the Minix X7 from another to Wasser.

I was coming from Finless 2.0 KKAT trying to get to Wasser 1.04 Kkat.

So, from where I am now with no boot but still seen by RK batch tool 1.7 and 2.1 - What should I do next.

Put finless back (using rk tool 2.1) and start over with rk tool v1.70?

Note - I'm trying to flash it to Tronsmart T428 not an x7 just to keep things clear....

EDIT Back on Finless 2.0!
Now, someone please tell me how to get wasser 1.04 on it, please.

Start RK Batch tool, this should recognise the box in the Flash mode. Select your Custom ROM and click on Restore. The ROM is transferred, afterwards checked and restarted then.

If an error is showing like the one of your image, use rk tool 2.1 for restore finless 2.0 first and than rk tool 1.7 with wasser 1.04

EDIT: Got Wasser installed!

The only ~problem I'm having is that now the T428 isn't seeing my Tronsmart USB Ethernet dongle. So, no wired connection but the wifi is working. Anyone know if there is something I can change to get it to find the USB Ethernet dongle? Maybe a different one with a different chipset or an edit to some system file??

Try to setup in Android Settings > Developer (activate first on bottom) > USB Debugging and plugin the dongle again.

No joy there. I think it lacks the drivers maybe? T428 is connected to powered USB hub. Dongle connects to hub and also a dongle for wireless mouse in same hub. It sees the mouse, works perfectly. Jusy can't seem to use the ethernet dongle. I usually see a blue light in the dongle once the cat5 cable is plugged in on both ends. See nothing now. Just a dead dongle. Tried it on the PC it works fine. Tried differnt ports on hub, no joy. Tried directly to the T428, no joy.

Too bad, the T428 is great on this ROM execpt for this problem.

No, he's very busy doing rk3288 roms now. I wouldn't pester him with this issue. I'll just have to deal with it on wifi only or go back to finless 2.0.

I'm wondering if a different dongle, with a different chipset would work....is anyone else using this ROM on a T428 using a dongle for Ethernet having success?

Install screen adjuster free and put contrast to 40

@vnishimoto are you also using THIS Wasser 1.04 ROM on the T428?

This is the same USB dongle I'm trying to use. I have 2 of them and both work on the PC so I know they're good. I was using one on the Finless 2.0 ROM and it worked fine. After flashing Wasser 1.04 no luck at all. So maybe I should start over as I did have problems when I flashed it.

So now the n00b question - how do I erase EVERYTHING on the T428 (so I know nothing is there from the botched up flash) and then flash the wasser ROM...

I have both RKbatch tools V1.7 and 2.1....anyone....????

Yes the new tool doesnt have a clear or erase button. But when you update it performs the erase function for u. As always if u can, make a backup first.

Well I'm done. Flashed it again and still no ethernet, only wifi. So I just went back to Finless 2.0 and it's fine. I'll just stay here, it works on the T428. No sence in wasting more space on here about it.
