This rom feels fast and snappy which is great. Ive just read through 24 pages of posts and these exact issues dont seem to have come up. Sorry if i missed something.
Ive installed the new kernel-neox7-1080p.zip kernel dated 17th jan. However It has crashed on me a few times after making the weird screeching noise that pluto mentioned initially. Ive now installed kernel-minix-x7-160114.zip (when i install it, its dated sat jan 11. Is that right) and i guess ill see how that goes.
- The title for the kernels says the IR remote issues have been fixed but it doesnt seem to work at all. wifi and bluetooth work so i assume ive got the right kernel. Am i missing something?
- I have a 2TB powered usb hard drive which stores my movies for XBMC. Other roms (finless 1.8 and strauzo nexus 4.2.2) have recognised it fine. This rom seems to see that its been plugged in and i can hear the drive spin up but in the storage section in the settings shows it as 0.0b and doesnt show in the mounted drives. Ive used another 620GB drive which is recognised fine.
- on the standard kernel-neox7-1080p.zip when i boot up there are pixel effects on the screen, as if its not quite the correct resolution (1080 @60hz). if i change the settings to 1080p@50hz (which looks weird) and change it back to 60hz it looks fine.
If i can get the hard drive recognised, i think i've found my new rom for the forseeable future

I have just tried my 2Tb disk with the ROM
Viewed with Solid Explorer and ES File Explorer it has mounted correctly
and shows as the full 2Tb
Is the problem with XMBC?
I found that many of the video players are written with phones in mind
and have trouble recognising usb devices
I use a file explorer to decide what I want to view and when I click on the file
I choose my default viewer. Mx Player Pro is my choice.
I use the Minix A2 remote. I haven't tried the IR remote lately
but seem to remember it is not successfully supported yet
Do persevere, this is a very good stable ROM, still with a few kinks to be resolved
but Wasser and others on the trackLast edited by astral69; 26 February 2014, 11:35.

regarding the kernel you mentioned. When wasser released the 16th january kernel, it was still linked with the 12th one, so rather clicking on the link, copy the text. Text and content differ in location and are different files.
However, the least OC'd kernel works better imo, give it a try.

I did some further testing and feel you problems are with XMBC
For some reason the standard version from Google Play just does not work.
The Minix version complains that it only works with Minix.............
probably because the ROM looks like a tablet GT9300, I think
Give MX Player a try, no need initially for the Pro version

I think i found the issue with my Hard drive. I dont know why but there was 7mb of unallocated space before the main partition. That space was being recognised with 0.0b and since this rom can only see one mount at a time, it was completely ignoring the the main partition. Im currently merging the two partitions and assuming it doesnt delete all my data, it should fix the issue.
With regards to the standard kernel that ive been using. I downloaded it from the first post. Also I only downloaded it a few days ago, Im guessing long after it had been updated. I also checked in settings>about tablet for the kernel version which was dated 17th jan. Anyways Ive switched over to the overclocked one which is dated 11th or 12th jan i think, and so far so good.
So the only thing left to make this rom perfect is the IR remote. Which would be very nice to have but isnt that big of a deal anyway

IR remote
I am not sure about other kernels, but in the oc one that i use (kernel-minix-x7-160114.zip), the IR remote receiver recognizes only K-R42 commands (not the stock). If you have a programmable remote you could program it for 'Samsung SMT-1000t (DVB receiver)'. source: here
