Some of the JB ROM's had MMS capability...but those functions haven't appeared in KK yet. I think there was one earlier ROM with SMS, but it was only in one firmware.Randy

I hope everyone has noticed the "Donate" link at the bottom of Randy's posts.
Some time ago I donated to Randy and also Bob Finless because I really appreciated their tireless efforts in producing these ROMs and making them available to anyone who wants to use them.
I am now going to donate to Randy again for his ongoing developments and his incredible patience in answering questions that have been answered many times before and are usually included in his instructions that come with every ROM. (However Randy's description of how to backup and restore - #94, is definitely worth copying and printing)
Enough said.

I am close to reflashing from Finless1.5, but don't want to lose my Samsung identification - can I edit the build.prop lines to respoof as a Samsung Randy? or is Kit Kat different? I really don't want to lose the ability to get my beloved BBC over here in China!Last edited by colinabroad; 14 April 2014, 02:24. Reason: spelling - there is still a lag on the keyboard !

Positive feedback
Hi Randy & Bob. So far so good. 2.7.2 has flashed first time with nothing going wrong so far. I will report back later on battery drain (mine is a 3G unit that has never had a sim card fitted (will do so later when I am confident it won't wreck my only China Mobile SIM! One thing to note so far....the flashing input curser is missing? when putting anything in like on email, or setting up accounts I normally see a flashing vertical thin bar indicating where the curser is - now I am getting nothing, so I have to guess where I am. This is present in my Kit Kat Note, so its not a kit kat thing, I suspect it is a PIPO thing?? I also made one edit to the build.prop changing model name from M9Pro to GT-I9300 and the BBC thinks I have an S3, so it allows me to download stuff which is great. I will come back later on OpenVPN, but normal PPTP is working fine. - in fact nothing else is not working which is BRILLIANT - well done guys, it seems I can have Kit Kat after all.

Hi,
Quite new and trying to follow up on the multiple possibilities of roms, upgrades, patches, ...
I'm looking for a KK rom for my mçpro wifi gps G3
I first went with katsy's rom, but I do seem to have some troubles with the google apps. First everyhing went well, but over time something went wrong. Anyway, no details on that, the questions I wanted to ask:
- it looks like your rom is changing almost every day compared to Katsy's
Can I assume yours is "newer" or ... What exactly is different?
- I would really like the multi user, multi window feature is welcome.
I understand theses aren't included yet?
Solution: arctools or ?xplode? module add-on?
- Would I be better off with a jelly bean rom?
- are google apps included?
- If I want to experiment, what is the best way to fully backup my current setup?
i've tried cwm with swiping, man that really sux, got to the menu to backup after multiple times "clearing cache" because it thought I was swiping in another direction... Then it told me it couldn't find the backup folder, ... *sigh*
Thanks!

SO, Bob/Randy can you please tell me which lines I need to take from Bob's build.prop from his 1.5RM and add/edit in Randy's new one? Or is it safe to simply replace the whole file (I think not, hence my question)
http://codekiem.com/2013/02/13/market-helper/ (available thru PlayStore as well)
Allows you to change your android device (in this case, your M9P) identity without touching your build.prop or any other system file. It even does it without rebooting your device.
Give it a go and let us know if it worked.

At first sight it seems to work more fluently. Can't really explain, but it it just works. I had quite some problems with getting the sim card detected, ... the google apps problem were my fault, but still it seemed they did not update themselves.
I also like the "minimalist"/"stick to the basics" idea.

Used xposed.installer and works very well.
did not look into multi windows, but isn't really wanted anyway.
- Would I be better off with a jelly bean rom?
mmm, nah
- are google apps included?
yes, they are.

I found your backup tool, but it's requires some setup, and as a first time user, I was not 100% sure I would have a working backup in the end.
On the other hand its a very powerfull tool!.
Anyway, since your rom comes with twrp, i used that. (much better in combination with touch than cwm)
I'm just starting with your rom, but if things keep this positive, I'll be happy to donate.

If you notice, just after the download link you'll find a "How to use" section.
It's not complicated, but if you need more info you can try reading this thread in Xda Developers Forum.

Flash bin Loader by ticking from Finles 1.5 to KK 2.7.2?
Originally posted by colinabroad View PostHi all, I am using 8sms on my Kit Kat Samsung note as the (asylm Omni) ROM came without messaging for some reason. While flashing I should flash the RK3188Loader by ticking it, Right?
Why I got this doubt was that in 2.5.2, it was explained by Randy that we should flash it first time shifting to KK.
But in 2.7 it is not explained (I assume that since people have already done it in 2.5, same was not explained). As we are shifting from Finles 1.5 to KK 2.7.2 DIRECTLY, I thought I should ask this stupid question.
Pl confirm.

Instuctions?? Who needs them? Isn't that what the internet is for? :-
Nope, did not work. The link you provided simply tells google what device it is..as it says on the tin it does not mess about with the build.prop. i have the bbc iplayer app, i have the vpn. With finless1.5 bob edited and added lines to change the tablet id to an s3. In doing this the bbc recognises it as a supported device and allows downloads. with market helper it does not. :-)
