I tried to flash Brian's ROM yesterday, but I'm stuck with drivers installation. I can't install drivers when I plug the tablet. Been trying to install manually then but with no success. It seems that the drivers in the X86 folder are X64 versions (or at least my windows thinks so).

I'm on win 7 SP1 (X86): any idea how to install the drivers without problems? I know some people faced the same problems and succeeded to install the drivers!
Well I did same thing with success. Drivers were in fact difficult to install but I succeeded with tablet off and switching on then drivers are required and install manualy by inidicating path.
Now I am with Brian's rom and Lepi's TWRP. I have only great difficulties with external SD and ES Explorer which can't write on it thow internal explorer can ! While creating a folder, ES Explorer says it will create folder asynchonus or something like ...

Delete previous drivers. Turn Cube off. Connect to Win. Install driver and you must see in dev manager Mediatek preloaded usb. Win will reconnect and disonnect device couple of times.
Now disconnect Cube, make all ssettings in SP flash tool, click download and connect Cube again - flash will start.

'recovery.img' is CWM recovery made with rua1's MTK Droid Root Flashtool. 'recovery_orig.img' is the stock recovery.

What did you do? Others might run into the same.

-> Using android terminal emulator I have a permission problem on the SDcard
-> and using mobile uncle tools: can't find SDcard.

I guess this is a systems permission problem, but I don't know where to look. If anyone has an idea, feel free to give your input !
Yes ! My problems are solved !!!
I can backup with TB on my SDCard 32go
I can backup my IMEI with Myuncle Tools
So everything is OK for the moment !

Well I don't say it's THE solution, but it works for me, for fat 32 SDCARD.
This is concatenation of several posts :
                    1 you must be root
                    2 open /system/etc/permissions/platformxml
3 change the permission name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE"> section to include
                    <group gid="sdcard_all"/>
4 go to market and load "SDFix KitKat Writable MicroSD"
5 run, give access root and apply ...
                    6 reboot
7 Load MyOncle Tools and Backup IMEI on SDCARD
And that was all for me.
Hope it will be useful for you.

I try to save <group gid="sdcard_all"/> but the system don't let me... I must change the <group gid="media_rw"/> to<group gid="sdcard_all"/> or I must include it under the first one?

If you are root, you must give root access with ES Explorer for exemple !

                          Hi, All...

...I'm a very satisfied owner of a Cube (32GB, Black, firmware v1.8 from the start.)

I've had it for a couple of weeks now, and been reading this Brian's thread - and related ones - for as long. However, I couldn't register and post before now because, somehow, the registration image puzzle was playing tricks on me on my tab, lol, so I ended doing it on a laptop.

Like others have experienced, the Cube has been a superb machine. Brian's (@900supersport) ROMs have made life so easy for me on the tab (the clear instructions, initial rooting, the smoothness, and so on.) The latest one (based on 0806,) has been smooth as silk, and I'm enjoying the "Easter egg" that's been introduced into the boot animation...thanks Brian!

Another resource of particular note for me, is Lepi's screen brightness patch - so useful. Thank you very much, @Lepi.

Now, also as experienced by some, drivers for the Cube appeared not to have been successfully loaded on my Win8, 32-bit machine, no matter how hard I tried, but I'm able to flash too on the machine anyways.

So it's been all good for me with the Cube, and I doff my hat to all those that have helped, particularly on this thread.

                          I certainly I'm sticking around.
