Yes, it is. If you have a remote.conf from another RC you can place it in storage/.conf and openelec loads this configuration on every boot.
You just need the original power button ir signal to wake up the box.
I use a harmony remote with pivos preset and set the original power signal to one button of my harmony. Now I have to shutdown the box with one of the pivos buttons and to wake up with the other from original remote. Not as comfortable as normal but now I have much more buttons to assign with keymap editor.

No, I usually shut down for an extended period of time, eg overnight, yet this still happens. I've tried everything - installing 1.1.5 - 1.1.6 - OE 4.2.1 in different orders, cache wipes, re-formatting, there just seems to be some random, niggling issue with these OE builds running on the MX2 that (what I think) causes the boot partition to corrupt. This problem has been in all the releases and is just that one remaining, underlying issue that is tainting this otherwise excellent software.

Ok now i understand clearly. There no way of wiping that bug clear. Man that sucks cause there's always that chance of it freezing, and I'm a have to keep on dealing with customer for this issue. Is there a box out there that can run openelec and will not have any problems for near the same wholesale price of mx2??

No more boot OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX2.arm-5.0.3

Sinds a couple of days it is not possible to put OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX2.arm-5.0.3 om MX2 box.
I've tried everything, first going to 1.6 and 1.5 Gbox, al without succes. It looks like some kind of issue with graphicalcard because the box gets stock in bootscreen but bootscreen also displaying very blurry.

The funny thing is, if you flash with OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX2.arm-4.97.3, so the older Beta version, everything works perfect.

I honestly don't know what causes this. But like I mentioned before I have never had the problem again when waiting to turn it back on. Plus I leave my box on 24/7 and only turn it off if I have no choice.

And you are right, this is an excellent build with just one problem.

Im also really liking 5.0.3 on my G Box Q. Runs real good with really no major problems that I can see.

Yes working nice and fast very fast... system used only 6% memory ram and max use two core processor 10 - 25% !!! full Hd 60hz ive got min 60 - max 110 fps!! soo f..ck android!

1.Orginal T8 Remote control (shit) - doesnt work/because this soft is for M8 sensor of course - but i use 2.4g Air mouse.
2.Led Display in tv box its not working as well/because M8 havent got it.

Only boot logo M8 irritates me maybe somebody know how to change this for T8 or s802 logo?? anyone....maybe codesnake will change this in next software edition for example for s802.

I don't have a need for this because I prefer the MCE infrared receiver (nice to be bale to position away from box for better range) - but to help the original poster, I had a comment re:@MikeD's comment.

Have you tried this yourself? The reason I ask, when I enable logging, I see an MCE remote configuration being loaded intrinsically as part of the OpenElec boot on these boxes. So my assumption was that because this is already being loaded, there wouldn't be any benefit to trying to add a separate MCE remote configuration here, but perhaps my assumption was wrong?

I, for one, would be "dead" without CEC. My player's remote doesn't work at all with Openelec and I hate using a wireless mouse when I'm on the couch watching a movie.

Did you try to fix the original remote as described on page 11?

Did you try to fix the original remote as described on page 11?

My remote looks quite different from the ones posted here, so I didn't try that fix. The tv's remote works great, I even have context menus with it and I found a work around for powering on the box. I have a custom M8, bought from a local company. It has M8 internals, but that's all. I think they manufacture them in China according to their own design.

This is my little player called DotSmart quad.



Any way, @codesnake's openelec works great on it, with no freezes and black screens. I installed it several times with different openelec versions (for M8) and had no issues. The only issue is the remote and as long as I have a configurable CEC in the TV's settings, I can live with it. I only used the tiny remote just to power on/wake up the player, before installing openelec.

I'll try using the tutorial at pg. 11 and see what it'll get me. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
