Thanks for the response, but do you really think it is the key mapping of the remote? I thouht the power command is a toggle command power on/off

Edit: With my M8 Remote i can power off the box

As far as I know Amlogic SOCs don't support CEC poweron.
I don't understand, I must be missing or misunderstanding something huge.

How can it be a feature, that as soon as my TV turns off, the box goes into Powersave, permanently. What that means, is that if I want to watch Kodi again, I must manually walk to the box and press the physical power button to wake the box.

If you are saying that CEC-Power-On is not supported by the AmLogic chipset, why would Power-Off (Power-Save) be implemented? If one isn't available, why would the opposite be available?

In the Russian forums, there were several posts discussing this and it was mentioned that this was fixed in 5.0.3, or that there is a new menu option under Kodi to disable CEC. I've looked everywhere and cannot find this menu option.

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

I'm not sure, but my M8's RC doesn't work at all now. I control Kodi with the TV's remote and all is fine, except for powering on M8 (CEC is not supposed to do this).

Since in openelec/configfiles/rc_keymaps is a readme that says "put your own key files here", I suppose it can be done.

CEC power on means that when you power on your player, with it's own RC ,it will also automatically power on your TV (if it is in standby) and automatically select the HDMI input. It does not mean that it will power on any other device attached to the TV with the TV's remote. It shuts devices off, but doesn't power them on. It works the other way around. The devices power on the TV.

If you don't want the player to be shut off by CEC, just go in the TV's CEC settings and disable the power off function.

But so far all key mappings of my M8 remote are ok. Works fine for me. Only power on with remote doesn't work

I suppose my M8 didn't come with the stock RC. It came with a tiny fancy remote and preloaded with the vendor's software.

                This is my remote

Nope, I don't have this, but I'm perfectly happy with my TV's remote. Bigger range and it does everything except power on the M8. It works tho with the usb trick.

it's a bit funny that I can turn off the box with the remote, but not turn on (with power button) ;-)

This is because you don't really power it off, you just put it to sleep and somehow, the wakeup function doesn't work.

I think you are right but how can we fix the wakeup function

I'm afraid I don't know how, but if I'll get my tiny RC to work, I'll post my findings.

                            This would be nice :-)

Openelec can load another remote.conf from config folder. So you can use any other (MCE-)remote with the box. Problem is that your remote.conf is only loaded on startup. So the box won't wakeup with this remote because it uses still the remote.conf openelec was compiled with. And because openelec is a readonly system you can't manually change this "hardcoded" remote.conf.
I don't know for which RC codesnake made his releases for because I don't use one but I think that is mostly the problem for the impossibility to power on the device.
CEC (and other things) seems to be still buggy in 5.0.3. I think most were fixed in the latest openelec 5.0.5.

you think it is a remote key mapping problem. So my power button turns the M8 off but not on. What you mean is, that the power button has to be remapped
