can i use openelec on my minix neo x8h ?

This is a port of OpenELEC for devices based on Amlogic chips. Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center (OpenELEC) is a small Linux distribution built from scratch as a platform to turn your device into an XBMC media center.

Supported devices:

• G18 (G18REF, Matricom MX2, Generic Droid-TV) with Amlogic 8726MX SoC
• M8 (K200) with Amlogic S802 SoC
• MXQ with Amlogic S805 SoC - coming soon
• TV110 with Amlogic S805 SoC - coming soon

Note that official OpenELEC team does NOT officialy support these builds, and is NOT involved in any way, so DO NOT POST bugs and DO NOT ASK for help on official OpenELEC site at http://openelec.tv.

No, that's not normal.
I have tested the same setup and i have noticed that fewer issues with video&sound were present compared to 4.2.1. Had tot revert due to pvr issues, though.
The only thing i can think of in your case is that sound might be muted. But then you would obviously see the red speakersign onscreen..

Also, keep in mind that these sources are...unstable by default

Yeah, that board should do just fine.
Dont own one myself, though.

The openelec team recommends this one as a replacement for the unsupported apple1 boxes.
I might go with that one for testdriving purposes:

Great thanks for the info. Yes I've seen the cubox, just too expensive. Do you have any of these boxes listed in the OP running this custom Openelec? I just really want to know if Phoenix will work with live NHL streams.

Yes, i got the MX2. Initially bought it for the Android experience, which was a...near hit
Codesnake made me dust the box off, smooth sailing since..!

Btw, i don't use these 'unofficial' streams for several reasons, one of them being it's usually very unreliable.
But, in general, if the stream is solid and passed on (almost) continiously, i don't see why any half-descent box wouldn't play it..

Any ideas why video stutters?

Tried Kerber's OpenElec build on my M8 and see no stuttering on 23.976 videos. Have no idea what are the differences between these two firmwares.

I try the new helix stable version on M8 but when I try to watch 3D the device it shows like is disconnected and I turn it off & on again!!!

Same with me, stereoscopic mode doesn't work both on M8 and MX2 running Codesnake 5.0.3/14.1. Just crashes Kodi and needs full restart...Had it working before without any problems on 4.2.1/Gotham 13.2.
Same with Airplay!
Please have a look at it in the next update.

This firmware 5.0.3 for M8 has more minor issues. Kodi repository internet Radio app ain't working any more.

Yes, Kodi 14.1 still has several, in my opinion, major issues.
I think this is being recognized by the team, as the second fix release already went beta ..;-)
I am eagerly waiting for 14.2 ..
