I reported that wifi compared to the 1.6 is now nice and stable but looks like it was already before. It is all depending on the position of the WLAN Access Point and the position of the Stick - thats all.

Re: BETA - MK808 "all models" Finless 1.7 BETA TEST - Report thread
Yes, we use the same wifi drivers and start scripts (concerned wifi), so we can't get better or worst wifi.
At certain time more wifi networks can turn on near your home, and some times can interfere your home network, you can use wifi analyzer from play store to check if another wifi network share your band.REMEMBER, YOUR FEEDBACK IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.My devices:

So wifi issues etc should be exactly the same!
I am not at all understanding theses reports.
Before I opened up the beta to all, no early testers reported any issues here.
I am somewhat at a loss!

Another option :-
If you do not want to mess around with files and not sure about USB dongle then easiest way is to buy one of those cheap Wireless -N Wifi Repeater Plugs and put them near your USB dongle. I am sure you will get better (not best) speed. I tried this way also and I get 65 MBPS with full bars. link to similar product
I hope this info helps you.

Hepl!!!!
I put 1.7rom on my mk808. It was working fine, but when I did the benchmark the screen went back. I unplugged the power and plugged it back in. Now all it does is flash on and off.
I tried downgrading it to 1.6 and it's doing the same thing.
Please tell me its fix able, I don't have the money to bye a 2ed one.

update for 1.7

I have installed it on my MK808 and have also copied the stagefright.so lib file however I am not sure what you mean to set the permissions correctly?
1) Wifi does not work correctly as others have pointed out. It will connect to my router and show 3 bars, but when you do a speed test it loses connection. I run my MK808 on a lan addapter.
2) I do not think the stagefright.co file corrects all the issues with MX player. It helps and allows you to click in h/w+ decoder as this would always crash with the stock rom. I do see an improvement in smothness of video with the stagefright.co file and 720P, but at 1080P shutter and stop.
3) When useing Netflix at system set at 1080P the video steams fine, but the sound track is off. at 720P soundtrack in in sync with video.
4) Steaming video file from the net seam to work well at 720 or 1080, but when I try to use remote potato, splashtop or connect to my lan connected computers with BubbleUP UPnP, I get lag and shutter at the highest video quality. I have to ask it there a way to increase the buffer size for streaming?
5) SlingPlayer streams fine.
6) XBMC...well it is beta and does not really work well enough to function with video steaming from my network computer or add on video sites (not really an issue with the rom I would think)
I would suggest fixing the wifi issue and updating the rom to try to fix the video issues and place in the stagefright.so file. I also use a Fly Mouse RC 11 and it seams to work fine for me.
The only ad on for me would be to add Adobe Flash with the lib file hack so you can play standard Hulu in a web browser.
As a comment I am not sure the hardware is up to the task yet. I have all the same apps on my Transformer 300 with Tegra 3 and all video plays well with no shutter even over wifi. Do I need to over clock?
I am not sure what I have done with playing, but I have improved my streaming from my remote potato servers both in network and out. I still can not stream using MX player at the 1080p level from remote potato, but it works very well set at the highest quality video.
With regard to WiFi issues.I had problems with the stock ROM until I changed my router to channel 8 per all the posts. With 1.7 ROM it does connect and get IP in WiFi, but when I run a speed test the m808 drops connection. For me WiFi is not an issue as I use an Ethernet connection.
Thank you for you efforts Bob.

Has anyone else had any issue loading the included cifs module? For some reason I cannot get the module loaded, even though it is included in the rom (I found it in /system/libs/modules). Also previously I had stated that my USB Ethernet was working well, but this seems to not be the case. I couldn't stream anything via wired ethernet (lots of stuttering and buffering), but I get full strength WiFi and I can stream all my media without any issues. (I'm using a combination of XBMC and MX Player).
I did replace the libstagefright.so from the XBMC thread which did help with acceleration of h264 video.
I'm mostly curious to know if anyone else has been having any issues with CIFS.

Have you try to erase IDB in Rom flash tool before you flash the Rom?
If it repeats in diferent roms I think it is a hardware problem so sorry.
What do you mean about flash on and off? Does the screen flash on/off? Or the led in the device?REMEMBER, YOUR FEEDBACK IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.My devices:

Please update libstagefright.so for this rom.
Herman Chen from rockchip made an updated libstagefright that fixes some serious issues with XBMC - mainly VPU crashing and some performance issues - it should basicly be a cornerstone of proper (native player) support for XBMC on rk3066 devices. According to rockchip this will land in default rom images in future, but until that happens it would be awesome to have this updated in custom roms.
Thanks in advance.
Also if you dont want to update the lib now - can we get an instruction on how to update it manually?

Re: BETA - MK808 "all models" Finless 1.7 BETA TEST - Report thread
I think Bob says how to make that.
You need a file manager with root capabilities, download the lib, and copy it in /system/lib, renaming the old one with .old and give permission to the new lib, rw-r--r-- and that is all, you have the new lib working.REMEMBER, YOUR FEEDBACK IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.My devices:

Finally got to testing with my replaced unit, Wifi is certainly different.i can confirm that a downgrade to 1.6 fixes the issues and an upgrade at the same time same network breaks it.Im using a mk808 with the rk901 chipset.Wifi in 1.7 shows full strength but drops out continuously with low speeds. (stock rom, 720.img, no over clock no mods).Every thing else is working absolutely great !! apart from the hide key on the rc11 is a volume down button aswell
