Bob i installed the 1.7 finless for the mk808b after a hour of work (and it was working fast and smoth) i decided to turn it off. after five minutes of turning it off, i turned it on and it was at the lockscreen. i unlocked it and a message came up saying the gallery has stoped, imediately after that a message like process.google.gaps has stoped. i dont know what might have caused this but i wanted to share it with you. one more thing is that a camera app was open in the background but i didnt start it. after 2 min the messages went away and now its working.

But when I click the google in the top left hand corner it just fc's when I hold and drag to the google from the menu bar at the bottom it brings me to the google now set up but once I click let me in it never searches. I erase the NAND (IDB) each time should I not? I know sometimes its recommended to flash over stock without erasing the nand. Ill keep working on it but if anyone has any suggestions please shoot me a holler.

Thanks again for the hard work this is a great community.
I cannot update Google Search as a system APP. You must go to Google play and update it!!! Then it will work. Last version had bugs by Google and did not work with the new update Play Services.

Its not related to the flymouse, i am using a simple logitech USB Mouse --> same effect.
          Not a biggie though :-)

            Search

            Hey Bob or anyone,

Please forgive me if this isn't the right place to continue on about this. The search works after the update. But I remember my search being more like a tablet and less like a phone. I am wondering if that was a dpi setting I messed with or some build prop settings I spoofed. Do apps change depending on the device they are used on like the universal binaries on ios or are there multiple versions of each app that are downloaded to depending on the device that is used?

Sorry That was a let me google that for you moment lol. I changed the dpi to 130. Got the beautiful tablet search. Nothing to do with any build prop settings. I you run into problems with market place after the DPI switch there is a app called LCD Density Modder that will solve that for you. Awesome Post Below as well. Thanks for the update leolas.

This is NOT in my ROM but I may add it if testing shows it's doing as decribed.

Please go here, read and download the stagefright.so lib file.

Now simply copy this into my ROM in /system/lib/
Make sure to set permissions to match the existing lib file as copying from SD card does not set permissions properly.

Let me know how it works for you all and if good, I will update my 1.7 ROM and add it.

tried hw acc lib --> no good.

                Hi Bob !
                Thx for the link.

I dloaded the libstagefright.so exactly from THIS post:

i copied it to lib system (renamed original before to *.org) using ES Explorer and set to RWRR also with ES Explorer.
When i use HW accelerated XBMC build it no simply crashes and goes back to launcher when trying a 1080p mkv h.264.
Before it played it although choppy and stuttering with HW accelerated XBMC, so : not really good.
Did i do something wrong ? can you guys do better ?

                Greetings,

                Ender

P.S. it crashed on me trying the birds 40 MBit sample (High profile). a 20 MBit sampled played although very choppy, as before.

Some thoughts on the latest BETA for MK808-B!

Ok, here are my initial thoughts and some feedback regarding the recent Finless 1.7 BETA.

My device is an MK808B original.

Everything seems to be running very smooth, just a few small hiccups and annoyances so far.

XBMC seems to run in "windowed" mode so the new "auto hide" feature of the status bar seems to trip it up. If you manually hide the bar after XBMC has initialized everything is misaligned, and there is a large black bar across the top of the screen.

It seems to be impossible to hide the bar from the desktop (to hide the bar before launching XBMC to avoid issues). Right now the only workaround seems to be launch another app, force status bar to hide, exit program, launch XBMC (which is kind of a pain). Any way to get the original behavior of the status bar?

So far the system seems very stable, and quite quick, I scored a 9600 in AnTuTu out of the box. I'm going to do some tweaks (V6 Supercharger, Kick-ass Kernelizer, etc) and we'll see if I see any noticeable performance gains.

Ethernet works much better! No need to start it every time the unit is booted, it just works! I haven't had any trouble.

XBMC w/ stagefrightlib seems to be working very well, a slight stutter every-so-often but I think this may be related to an issue with a power supply in my NAS.

So any chance of getting a modified kernel for the MK808B which could be overclocked? Or perhaps a bit of control over the CPU (It'd be nice to be able to use deadline scheduler). I've put a modified heatsink and fan on the unit, and I'm quite confident that I could safely overclock the unit (at stock speeds it is cool to the touch).

Overall, the ROM feels very well crafted and efficient.

I can't comment on MX Player as I haven't been using it on this version of the ROM, but I didn't seem to have any issues in Finless Rom 1.6a.

I can't thank you enough for all your hard work and anything I can do to help out in any way would be my pleasure, I'll definitely be donating once I can afford to do so!

                      Feedback (MK808)

                      Hi Bob,

Thanks a lot for this great ROM

                      Couple of remarks so far:

                      1. I'm using Soul Movie player for my videos. It was one of those few apps that could hide the taskbar in your previous ROM 1.6. With your new ROM it also works fine, but as soon as I enable menu in settings (three vertical dots on taskbar) the taskbar starts to continuosly jump up and down. Not a big deal as I can simply inactivate this menu feature and perfectly live with it

                      2. I'm using this air mouse and in your previous ROM the central menu button worked like "OK" command. With the new ROM it is recognized as mousewheel button. Is there a way to remap it as it was before?

Otherwise, outstanding job, Bob! I also get better WiFi signal with this ROM. Thanks a million!

About the lib fix from Rockchip, if you read whole thread you will know that XBMC is still in alpha version and still has some bugs so better to test new lib with MXPlayer in its HW+ mode.
                        XBMC instability says nothing

Wow, this is good news, both that the 1.7 beta is open for all (I just registered so I wouldn't get access as Bob said previously) and that Rockchip is working on the HW acceleration

I'm still waiting for my MK808B from geekbuying to arrive. Really looking forward to play around with all this

                            Hi ExSport.
I am well aware of that, but guess what: on my Xperia Z the current build of XBMC runs smooooth with HW acceleration on, so it might be BETA bot on my phone it already rocks :-)
(You might say that the Z is fast enough but it is not smooth with the regular XBMC builds, so it needs HW acceleration to kick in that Adreno GT320 stuff...)

I am using XMBC since the first wave of XBoxes where i had to solder the zillion-wire-modchip myself before the lame softmod came out, so i am following the XBMC dev quite closely :-)

I am soooo hoping we can make the MK808 a decent mediaplayer without that MX-Player "workaround".
                            Lets see, fingers crossed...

                              Feedback on sunvel clone:
I am using a MK808-B clone which is labeled on the circuit board as sunvel 1808. It is the version #3 without cpu cooler.
Used the sunvel rom. Everything is working except I can only power the unit trough the OTG port. Antutu benchmark gives a little above 7000. I red already about almost 10000. 6600 is what I had with the stock. Bob, thank you for you execellent work, please keep up with it.

                                Hi Bob!
Your post about the new libstagefright.so really made my day

After figuring out, how to injekt the file and testing it with the experimental version of XBMC posted in the second post.

All works great! With the version on the xbmc downloadpage nothing changes !!!
Now i can watch my 36th chamber of shaolin with 1080p with only minor picture hickups. It´s a difference like night and day. So with xbmc being alpha for android it´s only a waiting issue i hope

No errors encountered with the 1.7 Rom for MK808B since my last post!

If i can only get the keyboard get to work, like i want *maybe a matter of time or beer *

                                Many,many thanks
