Tests Results

Well, I finally made my time to install version 1.7 and here's my results:

Hardware:

1) 360 Joystick (USB Version with cable) - Works perfeclty (I think there's a very small delay on response, but could be my device not having enough power)
2) USB Network LAN (Encore one with USB hub included) - Works perfectly
3) Microsoft Wireless KIT - Works perfectly

Apps/Games:

Google Reader - Perfect
Chrome - Perfect
Crackle - Perfect
Dead Trigger - Perfect and with Joystick
ES File Explorer - Perfect
IMDB - Perfect
Mame's - Perfect
MX Player - Perfect (Didn't test much movies yet)
Splashtop 2 - Perfect
Veetle - Perfect (Not sure why it has such an ugly and big interface, but it's the apk not the FW... lol)
Youtube - Perfect (Latest version works even with Fullscreen option)

Arcane Legends - Works (no joystick support, but I think it's not supported by the game)
ShadowGun: DeadZone - Works but no joystick (again, maybe it's not supported by the game...)
NOVA 3: Works but no joystick (again, maybe it's not supported by the game...)
Flashout 3D - N/W, it just hangs after the benchmark
GT Racing: Hyundai Edition - N/W, goes back to desktop (First is asking for Wifi, but even if you switch to Wifi, it doesn't work)

So, and way to fix those games issues ? And does anyone know how to turn on NOVA 3 - 3D ?

By the way, I'm using 1.4 1080 Kernel version from Alex... but it's not quite fluid so I'm considering going back to 1.4 720 version.

MK808B - AC3 audio - HDMI through pass

From 2 months I tried to found a solution to have AC3 audio (5.1 instead of 2.0) using HDMI through pass, but I have no success .
Someone have a solution? USB card with optical output working on MK808B?

Console emulators like SuperGnes or Snes9xEX or any other emu are not fluid, this problem is probably related to refresh because the MK808 is fast enough to emulate these old systems.

I solved this problem in the 1.6 rom by doing the steps advised in the following link:

If I read the changelog then I see the layout file is added.
Maybe the keyboard lay-out file for the wired xbox is present in the Rom but not for the Wireless Xbox controller? I am not at home so I can not check
If missing, maybe this can be added?

Split / multi window experience?

Sorry i have not tried the 1.7 rom nor have read all posts. Kindly excuse me if this is repeated.

Is it possible to have multi windows? like side by side? like this? considering the massive real estate that we have. (Edit: Here's the app.:P )

Also, im currently on 1.6a (mk808b). And have following issue, reproduced as...
1. play media file. (may be upnp stream)
2. Hide task bar.
3. Move mouse on the task bar area...

strange problem with mx player

Hello Bob. Thank you for your roms.
I have original mk808 with 1.7 rom installed.
Now i have strange problem with mx player ( this problem had not been in 1.6 rom)
Steps to reproduce:
1) download latest mx player from google play
2) download latest megogo.net app from google play (it is possible with original build.prop)
3) lunch any movie in megogo and select system player mx player.
4)click on previous button of launcher to close mx player and return to list of movies in megogo.
5)lunch new movie with mx player
It's not possible to lunch mx player next time.
If i go to settings-apps-running apps and stop mx player manualy, than i can lunch movies with mx player in megogo.
I didn't have this problem in 1.6.

test this, go to setting > developer options> background process limit, and set this to "1" or "no background processes" and try again

Finless 1.7 Beta first report

First a big thanks to Bob and the Freaktab team for yet another finely (or should that be finlessly ) crafted ROM.

The 1.7 Beta ROM on Ipegtop MK808 looks great, feels noticeably faster and slicker but oddly, with full WiFi signal, video streaming suffers from substantially increased buffering over Finless 1.6 on Netflix, YouTube (latest version) and BBC iPlayer

Attaching a Dynamode usb-nic-1427-100 ethernet adapter improves buffering and picture definition.

I don't know if this difference over Finless 1.6 is a wifi performance issue (even though I have full wifi strength) or a product of improved picture definition in Finless 1.7 (the images using the ethernet adapter are pretty good).

I may try a re-flash if no one else is experiencing this.

My results of 1.7 Rom Beta Test

Thanks for opening up the Beta Test on Rom 1.7 for the MK808.
I have installed it on my MK808 and have also copied the stagefright.so lib file however I am not sure what you mean to set the permissions correctly?

1) Wifi does not work correctly as others have pointed out. It will connect to my router and show 3 bars, but when you do a speed test it loses connection. I run my MK808 on a lan addapter.
2) I do not think the stagefright.co file corrects all the issues with MX player. It helps and allows you to click in h/w+ decoder as this would always crash with the stock rom. I do see an improvement in smothness of video with the stagefright.co file and 720P, but at 1080P shutter and stop.
3) When useing Netflix at system set at 1080P the video steams fine, but the sound track is off. at 720P soundtrack in in sync with video.
4) Steaming video file from the net seam to work well at 720 or 1080, but when I try to use remote potato, splashtop or connect to my lan connected computers with BubbleUP UPnP, I get lag and shutter at the highest video quality. I have to ask it there a way to increase the buffer size for streaming?
5) SlingPlayer streams fine.
6) XBMC...well it is beta and does not really work well enough to function with video steaming from my network computer or add on video sites (not really an issue with the rom I would think)
I would suggest fixing the wifi issue and updating the rom to try to fix the video issues and place in the stagefright.so file. I also use a Fly Mouse RC 11 and it seams to work fine for me.

The only ad on for me would be to add Adobe Flash with the lib file hack so you can play standard Hulu in a web browser.

As a comment I am not sure the hardware is up to the task yet. I have all the same apps on my Transformer 300 with Tegra 3 and all video plays well with no shutter even over wifi. Do I need to over clock?

Quick question...is it possible to flash the RK3066 version of the CWM recovery directly with the ROM Flash Tool and just replace the recovery.img in the FinlessROM folder with the CWM recovery?

Yes is posible, but i suggest make a backup of you current rom before install anyone.

So wifi issues etc should be exactly the same!
I am not at all understanding theses reports.
Before I opened up the beta to all, no early testers reported any issues here.

I am somewhat at a loss!

I am with you on that. Hence my earlier post on WiFi. Just throwing out options. I dont belive Drivers are the prob.
