Hi,

As other stated, ignore the MXpayer problems - seems it is not related to the rom. If you could send me a link to beta I'll retest some of the reported problems.

BUT... I do not have a fly mouse. I am wondering if it is releated to that.

I'll try it again with a normal mouse attached. I will reboot and try. Might take some time, not at home right now. Lukesan directed me towards the Archos player. Very nice as you don't have to hide the nav bar, because the app does that by itself. When you do hide the nav bar however, there are many problems, similar to mx player and also xbmc... This might actually be a bug in android.

thanks Bob, this rom is very cool. I can verify the issue with the "split second" player ui using two different fly mice (one is the measy RC11, the other one is from **** and resembles the iphone 4 design) and also a regular mouse.
For me that's no big deal, though as I do not use the 808 as a media player (my Raspberry Pi is just too good at that, lol) plus the RC11 has playback controls that actually make the mxplayer ui pointless.
Anyway, good job on the rom, its fast as hell. Got slightly over 10000 points in antutu benchmark on the first try:

Bob, I use the most cheapest China 2.4GHz (with its own usb dongle) mouse there is.
I also have one of those remote keyboards with the mousepad. Guess which frustrates me and costs the most?
The wireless mouse I can move the cursor like I want and I like the right click which goes action back.

Is there a change log we could look at between the mk808b 1.6a and the 1.7? Just for shoots and ladders? Also do you have a github? I could start a repository of sorts for the tools people need to work on the rk3066 more specifically the mk808b and the neo x5. I have a romos w30 tablet too I'll pry start work with that soon. Also if you need themeing help strictly on the graphic side I haven't delved into replacing files in apk yet.

I'm really interested in getting started on developing for the MK808B specifically would like to mess around with the kernel to try and get a slight OC going, as I can't seem to find any compatible kernels that allow overclocking that are compatible with the MK808B. I use a setup on my iMac. I have Ubuntu 12.10 and Windows 7 running through VMware fusion. Most of the work I do is in Linux. So that would be a good place to start. rkutils and threads on dev here and over at the armtvtech forums as well as Xda forums. I try to compile some things that I have found useful from all three places and put them together here. I will try to remember and credit the original post or forum as well. XDA university is a good spot for just general rules and background along with some tuts. My very recent understanding is that all custom roms are using the stock kernel. It is also my understanding that these kernels can't be decompiled in their current format. It is also my understanding that since it is a Linux/android kernel that it under the open source and they are legally obligated to release source for it so maybe we should start emailing some companies. But anyone and everyone please correct me if I am wrong. I am brand new to the scene. But am eager to catch up.

Using IP Webcam from Android Phone to MK808

Hi

Does anybody know the best way to use Android phone camera as MK808 camera for Skype video call. I came across IP Webcam but this software can be used with PC( I mean PC will start to take phone camera for Skye Video call) . I want to use my phone's camera on MK808 for skype video. Can anybody suggest some way around ?

RockChip releases update LIB file for XBMC HW decoding!

Folks, Rockchip themselves seem to have made a new Stagefright library to fix problems with HW decoding in XBMC.
Thanks to the several folks the PM'ed me this information this morning.

This is NOT in my ROM but I may add it if testing shows it's doing as decribed.

Please go here, read and download the stagefright.so lib file.

Now simply copy this into my ROM in /system/lib/
Make sure to set permissions to match the existing lib file as copying from SD card does not set permissions properly.

Let me know how it works for you all and if good, I will update my 1.7 ROM and add it.

When I make the release post I will add the change log from my Readme.
I am still waiting to hear if there is any mods needed to make this a launched ROM instead of a beta.

But for those wanting it now, here is the change log:

Features and release notes for my 1.7 ROM:

This is an enterly new system. This is not much from the original MK808 ROM in this as fas as system goes.
Many features from my 1.6 ROM are of course in this along with new features.

1) New "auto hide" status bar! To enable this go into settings>Display and turn it on.
Now anytime you run an APP it will automatically hide the status bar. Please note, some badly written APPs
can leave you in a stuck condition that you cannot exit the APP. You will need you keyoard exit key.

2) While you in settings>display there is another feature to force the settings menu icon in the status bar.
It is 3 dots vertically. NOw anytime you in a APP that has a settings capability, if you click that you get settings!

3) Lock screen is back friends! Now is settings>security you can
A) Disable the lock screen completely (default is slide)
b) Setup a pattern for lock screen
c) Setup a PIN for lock screen
d) Setup a password for lock screen

4) Sleep is back like a tablet!!!! Go into settings>display and you can turn on sleep!
Now understand how this works
a) If there is no wifi or ehternet connection the MK808 when it goes to sleep will power off.
b) If there is a connection, it will simple go into low power mode and turn the display off. Moving the mouse turns it back on again

5) I enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu. Tested and working with all APPs that use it.
remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

6) New "grid" style launcher available as a choice of launcehrs.
Some people still want the Alternate launcher that comes with many TV sticks for EZ TV use.
I took this from the Neo X5 ROM as I liked it better than previous versions. This of course comes with the RK settings as well.
If you want to remove this just use ES File explorer and delete these files from /system/app
LauncherNEW.apk
AllApp.apk
RKSettings.apk
RKBasicsettings.apk
Now just reboot and all this will be gone.

7) Gameloft fix. This fixes Gameloft games from crashing to the desktop.
Many of them do not run and crash to the desktop. This is due to a license check based on the device.
Special thanks to Christian Troy for inventing this fix. I modded it for this ROM.
87) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
YOur device will show up in google play as NOT a MK808 device! Understand this please.
I also left the original buiild.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Minis Nexo X5.

9) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

10) RK Mirrioring is enabled. I have yet to figure it out or how to use it but if we ever do, its there.
I think we need a client on our tablets to use it. Hopefully more info will come from WiMo about this.

11) Remote Control using RK Remote APP is now fully supported!
In the ROM kit is a RKRemoteControl.apk.
You install this on your phone or tablet and now it can remotly control your TV player!
Just put the APK on sdcard or something and install it on your Android phone, tablet, etc.
ENJOY this one! I had a HARD TIME getting it to work!

12) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

13) As always I added the Xbox XPAD.KO module is now injected on boot. This was by request! Enjoy!

14) I added Xbox360 keylayout to fix some games and camera spin with xbox 360 controller. Per this post here:

15) TUN.ko module is also added by request. (CIFS and MD4 are already in the latest kernel).
Be aware if you use another kernel other than whats in this ROM, you may have to manuall insmod CIFS and MD4.
The files are in /system/lib/modules


1080P support if you desire:
This is NOT a true 1080p ROM! HOwever there is a 1080 modded kernel available now from Armtvtech.com
However I have CUSTOM TUNED this ROM so it looks good "set" at scaled up 1080P!!! Font's Icons, etc!
On first boot I have DEFAULTED this ROM to boot at 1280x720 for compatability with older TVs!
Some people cant boot custom ROMs unless EDID is ignored. So I forced this to 1280x720 on first boot!
If you want the BEST look and your TV does 1080, then first thing to do is go into display settings and change it to 1080!
I think you will like how it looks scaled up now from 720!

Two boot.img's available. While this is NOT a 1080P ROM for those that want to use Kriz MK808 or other 1080 kernels
and do not want the boot screen all jacked up, I have added a boot1080.img file.
The boot720 is set as default. If you decide to use another 1080 kernel, just change to boot1080.img
To change a selection for boot, in the flash tool click the empty box to the far right of boot line.
A file browser will open. Navigate to the FinlessROM folder and select the boot1080.img

I do have a question though and I am not sure how related this is to your rom or my hardware. I'm on a real mk808b and I swear that my search functions used to work but I have flashed this guy so many times and I can't explicitly remember. But when I click the google in the top left hand corner it just fc's when I hold and drag to the google from the menu bar at the bottom it brings me to the google now set up but once I click let me in it never searches. I erase the NAND (IDB) each time should I not? I know sometimes its recommended to flash over stock without erasing the nand. Ill keep working on it but if anyone has any suggestions please shoot me a holler.
