No, I downloaded the link from MEGA (x92 3G 171211.rar). I am currently running the version that you have just mentioned. You can also look at my screenshot. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Don't think the version matches. Your image has got build date october, not december.

I think I may have flashed it incorrectly resulting in it not actually flashing. What is the process for flashing a new ROM on these things?

Do take note that x92 is the 1st & only tv box i've owned. However i had 100% success & 0% failure by using below method so far:

              1) transfer only "q201-ota-root.zip" to sd card & rename the file to "update.zip". Mount/insert the sd card to box
              2) reboot box to recovery mode (i am using Quick Reboot from playstore)
              3) once in recovery mode do these:
              - wipe data/factory reset
              - apply update from EXT (select SD card & select "update.zip" file)
              - wait for the update process to complete
              - once completed, select "Reboot system now"
              4) seat back, relax & enjoy the "hogwarts BGM boot animation".

                Alternative kernels for X92
                (both 2Gb and 3Gb variants)

A list of changes compared to stock kernel - HERE

                No reflashing required.
The kernel boots off either a USB stick or a SD card.
Copy the files for your model into the root of a stick/card, insert it into X92 and reboot with the button inside the AV jack pressed with a match.
Hold the button pressed for relatively long time (10-20 seconds). If your USB stick has an activity LED, you can release the match as soon as it starts flashing, indicating read.
If anything goes wrong, just remove the card/stick and reboot, and you get exactly your old Android without any changes.
If you like the new kernel and want to boot it without having to press the button in the AV jack, there's a instruction how.

                More detailed instructions - HERE
                Download - HERE

If somebody skilled with linux kernel wants to join the joy -
                https://github.com/anpaza/akbuilder
Anyone managed to get it to boot on external SDCard along with the ROM internally flashed with stock Android 7 ? Suspect the boot image is not compatible with Android 7.

I am pretty familiar with flashing ROMs on Android phones. I am assuming that performing the above steps will wipe any apps I have installed off of the stick, correct? (Asking because I have Kodi setup with a ton of features that will be very annoying to reconfigure but will do if I have to).

No need so complicated. Pretty sure this is a file mixed up problem.

I'm really confused.. What is the latest "STOCK OFFICIAL ROM" for the 2gb+16gb Version that I can update thru the updater app built-in??? I have read the previous pages but I don't know which to download that works thru the Updater app since it's the easiest method. Thank you!

                        Hi,
                        can anyone help me?

I tried to update my 3/32GB X92 with Android 7 Stock Firmware. Update seemed to run OK, but now the box will allways boot up in recovery mode.
No matter what I do, it will allways boot right to recovery. What can I do to resolve this??

                        Thanx in advance!

When inside recovery try to find a menu which allows you to clear dalvik cache and cache. If your recovery does not have such item, you might need to find a TWRP recovery which works for your device.

Thanx, I tried that, but no use. I managed to solve the problem with a firmware image and Burn Card Maker, but every other firmware I tried besides 08052017 would brick my box and I had to reinstall everything from SD card. I have the 3/32GB box, but no other firmware worked. Can you tell me where to get the TWRP recovery? All the links on 4PDA are dead....
