    Use for firmware FactoryTool-v1.45e

I have the latest December firmware is not working Wi-Fi. The network sees but does not connect.

With bravery I tried upgrading to december firmware. Upgrade seems successful, my box starts after erasing everything, but now the HDMI display is not consistent, it turns on and off randomly every seconds, a lot of tiny graphic artifacts and sometimes the box screams a long beep. What should I do?

Found a weird thing, if I left the USB cable that was used to connect to computer when flashing, then no problem on the display. Even more confusing, the box can work with USB 3.0 as power source! Wrong power calculation?

And same with minya, it sees available access point, but wifi stuck in connecting.

One good thing: power off really shuts the box down.

        EDIT:
Seems to be something with the supplied HDMI cable. I swap it with the one from my mini PC, which has 5V/3A adapter, HDMI connection is now stable on both devices. Still no idea why it didn't happen before. Still, because the december firmware has problem connecting with wifi, I flashed the october firmware. Will need to install things again, as I forgot to create apps backup. So bad that firmware upgrade means deleting everything, there should be a way to keep installed apps somehow (I know 3rd party solutions such as MyBackup exists, I just hope it's more built-in).

          PLEASE HELP!
I plugged in my external hard drive using the latest update (Dec 11th 2017) and my unit turned off, I then tried plugging it back in again and the blue led flashed once immediately then turned off.
I then tried a different power adapter and it started blinked blue, I tried in the PC/usb and it flashed once.
Now it doesn't turn on and when I try and plug in the adapter it smells like something is burning.
Does anyone have any clue what has happened and if there's anything I can do to fix it?
          Thanks!

@harveyconnor this problem is discussed a lot of times.
please try a bigger power supply... with a minimim of 3 Ampere/5V
or use an active usb switch with its own power supply.
the 2000mAh psu from factory is a joke. the box will consume all of the power for its own.
the hdd takes additional 500-1000 mAh, thats the reason...

            happy new year

Still do not see a solution to: Device does not shutdown - without rebooting instantly !

Did I miss it? Or is it still not possible to Power Off the device ?

As I said above, december firmware will power off the device correctly. But, wifi doesn't connect despite it can see available access point.

I just flash it normally (upgrade or restore does no difference to me, no idea why restore is told to be the correct one). I'm on october firmware now, though. Cannot connect to wifi is a fatal loss of feature.

Yes, the geekbuying post lists all required tools which you have to use. Does wifi connect in your case?

Wifi still a problem, .. several video streams (.ts) also. This firmware is verry poor.
I am back to "rk3399_hcy_7.1.2_528_40M_171016". Working.. (without Power off)

Hope there will be a full release of am modified Oct. version some time.

Thank you. I will attempt to flash this rom. I still cannot get any firmware to flash beyond 6% before windows10 disconnects my unit. It loads into MaskRom mode and fails at loader stage. What does it mean when failing loader in the process?
