I did everything in accordance with this guide( http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...o-any-s912-rom) to upgrade the original ROM to SCV4 , but even after 20 minutes nothing happens.
I reset and try again and nothing.
    What to do?
Is there other way to upgrade to SCV4 and how ?
No, there isn't. If you want to install SCV7A keep the rules on page one. Otherwise stay on Stock, or whatever.

      I ask for SCV4, not for 7.

You probably have the wrong image. I had that error too, was fixable.

You could make a boot card. So downlod boot card maker and take the img file and flash it with recovery to an sd card. And boot your device with it.

I'd like to try that, but I have a more immediate problem: I can't upgrade my new box (blue PCB) to SCV7A.

EDIT: OK no worries, fixed. I tried a different method: reboot with button held down, into TWRP, then select the OTA ZIP to install. Don't understand why the normal UPDATE app didn't work, but no bother.

I've flashed SCV4 OK using the normal method. But the SCV7A OTA update won't take. Here's what happens:
              1. I flash SCV4 to SD card as usual
              2. Boot from SD card with reset button pressed, update applies
              3. After boot I have SCV4 running OK
              4. I run Update -> Local Update + Wipe Data on the SCV7A zip file, it reboots, says "Updating" for a while, reboots again, and I'm back in the OS
              5. But Settings -> About still says SCV4. And the install doesn't seem right - eg there's no Netflix and Youtube links on the home page, and there's no TWRP app installed at all.

Regarding step 4, the OTA update, when I do this I don't see any TWRP screen. I'm sure when I did the upgrade on my first H96 (green PCB), the OTA rebooted into TWRP to apply the update.

I've tried re-flashing SCV4 and then re-applying SVC7A multiple times, always with the same result.

Settings -> About says: H96 Pro+ 7.1.2 NHG47L SCV4 20170826 test-keys. The YouTube app is version 2.00.19, which should be higher if SCV7A was installed.

Any ideas what's going wrong here? Is the blue PCB rom different to the green in how it works and the software it has installed? Why don't I see any mention of TWRP?

              Thanks in advance.
Samm, maybe this is something for your update problem.

Give additional power to the box from the power adaptor, while brushing it.

Keep the reset button pressed, while you are connecting to the power adapter, and keep it pressed,, untill the burning process comes to 7%. If, as you say, it seems that the box looses connection with the PC, unplug and again plug the USB cable several times, but don't release the reset button.

When i use usb flashtool, i always take the unit apart and do the shortcircuit thing. Is there another way to use the usb flash tool?

You mean shortcutting the pins of memory? Why you should do this?!?!!
You should do this very carefully only if your box is bricked!!! And once you have done it, you must have a successful flash 100℅, or your box will remain bricked and you will have to do a new cross pining again...
Shortcutting the pins means a bricked box, until you have a successful flash.
There are instructions how to use USB BT, only someone has to read them...

Why are you guys making such easy task so difficult, it's like this .img files you flash with the USB tool or burn card method to update with zip file you use the built in recovery TWRP versions 1 to 4 it's an img file superceleron included TWRP on version 4 so flashing 6 ,7 or 7a you use the Twrp recovery, what's so confusing about this or are you guys trying to cross flash between Android TV interface and tablet interface? Do things property pay attention on what your doing this is a straight forward procedure.. or maybe you don't know how to boot to recovery, remove all cards press and hold reset splay power and wait till you see the TWRP logo then release the reset button, mamamia......

As you say it, i can just twrp the ota file on my mecool km8 p with android 6.0.1. Thought you first need to flash 4 img file, then ota 7 through twrp.

Exactly that is the way but I believe your device is q201 or q20x not q9377, translation to English it's a different board I am not sure about this first of all make sure your device is q9377
