    Burn Package: Nexus_M8S_TVStock_NHG47L-20180119.img

This has a bunch of new features and fixes that we haven't seen yet from VideoStrong. For starters,

    - Quick (2-3 sec) resume from sleep with preserved user state
    - Auto framerate settings (3 modes)
    - Superuser root setting
    - Hover at top edge of screen to show status bar
    - Drag up from bottom of screen to show navigation bar
    - HDR and SDR settings
    - Additional Dolby/DTS/Digital audio settings

If the consensus is that this is better than the ones based on the official OEM stock firmware from Videostrong, we may move to this new foundation permanently. For now, though, it's just a trial. What do you think?
can we use the same method to flash this as previous ATV firmware for Mecool m8s pro or do we need to flash Vorke z6 firmware first?

Well, you can't use Settings->About ->System update, since I didn't release a OTA update (.zip file). However, you can directly flash to this using USB Burning Tool. No need to flash the Vorke Z6 firmware first.

He keeps his promises and FTF members are grateful. TU for all your hard work(of which I have no clue what it entails). Let's give it up, guys...

This shiningworth ROM sounds like it has a good few benefits over the videostrong based one I'm currently using. What are the negatives with it? Is Bluetooth connectivity a problem in general or is it just with Bluetooth audio streaming? Would widevine L1 support be preserved for those boxes that have it?

The BT audio stuttering problem is still an issue with the Shiningworth firmware on this wireless chipset, but I'd say we're close to a fix on that. Widevine L1 will be preserved (assuming you don't check Erase All, Force Erase All or Overwrite Key). I haven't been able to check Netflix playback, since I don't have a box with L1...at least not yet.

Thanks Magendanz. Are the libraries present in this rom that enable Netflix ATV to work at 1080p (for those with WV L1)? I think the ROM I'm currently using was one you had built using the M8S Pro L firmware with those libraries intact (and it's been a really good, stable ROM ).

I'll try and pry the box away from everyone in the house to test this new shiningworth ROM but will have to revert back as Bluetooth audio is used quite often

Thanks Magendaz. But how to confirm that Erase all, Force Erase all or overwrite key is not done???

Just accept the default values in USB Burning Tool. Those options will not be selected.

So we cant install this firmware using SD card making tool? Since I had no success in getting my device recognized in USB burning tool
          Should we select erase bootloader?

You can, but I'm not a fan of BootcardMaker. In my experience, it's much less reliable than USB Burning Tool.

I am able to make it recognize in usb burning tool. So in that we should select erase flash and normal erase underneath it, erase bootloader and reset after sucess? Is these the options to be selected?

Yes, I just recommend the defaults. That should be Normal Erase and Erase Bootloader. I only use Reset After Success if I'm flashing via "reboot update" from a terminal window, because otherwise I usually don't have HDMI or power connected.

I just updated the post you quoted above with a link to the OTA Update.

It changed to L3 after using the same procedure u told Magendaz.
It got back L1 status after flashing stock firmware. @Magendaz can you take a look at why the status changes to L3 in this firmware

Well, it's missing some Widevine L1 libraries in the /system/vendor directory, but those were pulled from the M8S PRO L OEM firmware back in September and they didn't seem to make a difference.

Unfortunately, I don't have a M8S PRO with Widevine L1 to test this stuff with...at least not yet.

          So, ota is up
Rerun the WV burn pkg. When rebooted? Or.. Isit possible to load at the same time via twrp?
OR.. Am I likely to have an addressing /fw conflict?
Isn't it a one off build?

Guest if u want to test with any other method. I can do it for you. Just update me what I have to do

Or is the Shiningworth firmware will never be able to make the Mecool M8s pro which have L1 retain it?

The Shiningworth firmware may be missing the Widevine L1 libs, but we can probably fix that. I'm out of town for the weekend, but will investigate when I return. Hopefully by then I'll have a Widevine L1 box to use for testing.

Also while trying to cast video I am getting unable to cast display using ATV firmware based on M8s pro L firmware
Any way to make the miracast and airpin and DLNA app work with this ATV rom which comes default in mecool rom?

Correct me if I'm wrong... Those of us who have a M8S Pro with the 'bonus' Wideline L1 will lose that 'bonus' after applying this update, right? Better wait for future versions?
