Video playback is absolutely gorgeous and to my untrained eye color reproduction seems more vibrant than with JB. The patched XBMC for Minix Beta2 will install but hw acceleration seems to be disabled. SPMC and Beyond XBMC on the other hand work nicely.

I have not found any major issues but here are some suggestions for improvements:
    • include Adobe Flash player
    • add support for mounting multiple USB storages (if possible in 4.4)
    • update the Reboot app to the latest version (1.2.0).
    • a bit darker default wallpaper (I'm actually using 'No Wallpaper' from Play store)

The following JB features are missing (KK/SDK issue, not Wasser's fault):
    • sound passthrough
    • no way to enable tablet view by editing build.prop (i.e. move the notification bar from the top of the screen to the lower right corner)
    • hiding the bottom navigation bar (not every app supports immersive mode yet).

Congrats to Wasser! Truly a great achievement.
    added in my todo lists,

    thanks

Note : I have never had any streaming Video 1080 HD lag or drop outs on XBMC Beta 1 or Beyond XBMC (5g wifi), and never had any crashes or random reboots on any of the listed roms above.

I have two Minix x7 boxes and Logitech K400r keyboards on both.

      Hope this helps

You're lucky! Tried all this and I still get micro-freezes in 1080p playing, using what you mentioned.
The most "acceptable" for me is the 008 fw rooted (kasty one), using MX Player and Minix XBMC. Although I would like to see justXBMC working (I mean perfectly, it mostly does..) since it is the only version that I found one could scroll using the air mouse.
On the other hand, it is true that I am not hunting a high Antutu score but preferably a real smooth 1080p playback. After all, the box of the Minix states "Media Hub" on it.

        thanks

short info how easy to flash kernel:
        1 lauch terminal
        2 su
        3 flash_image kernel kernel.img
        4 reboot

I cannot believe my sd card has to be inserted upside down. Ok, for some reason I cannot do from sd card flash_image kernel /sdcard/kernel.img

Where do I need to place the kernel.img using flash_image kernel kernel.img ??

flash_image in 0.92 is broken, therefore you cannot flash it. It will be fixed in next release.

            k. Thanks! This is my 1st time trying to do this way. After you fix it should I need to do both of them or only one of them?

            0.92-4.4.2
            and then 7-110114-2
            or just 110114-2

I was only trying to install 110114-2 image.

Have you tried using the advancedsettings.xml and setting cache buffer to 0 (zero) ?

I dont know if advancedsettings.xml is needed in beyond xbmc beta 1, but I put mine in from xbmc beta 2 and so far it all runs fine on streaming 1080 HD over 5g wifi with no micro freezes etc.

Good point, I'm using ART. Thanks.

FYI, I found a problem with using a vpn over wifi. I can define a vpn in Settings/More/VPN and connect properly using that vpn thru ethernet. But when I disconnect ethernet, and connect wifi and try to connect using the same vpn connection definition, it will not connect.

My found out the address to the sdcard is /mnt/external_sd/kernel.img After you put flash_image kernel /mnt/external_sd/kernel.img and enter in the terminal is something suppose to happen? Please give me some guidence. Wasser mentioned .92 is broken. but there are 2 links on the 1st page. Does both need to be installed or only one? I been reading some people having issues with x7 ethernet and bluetooth issues and throught that what the 110114-2 is for.

you dont need to use the flash command when you are freshly flashing a rom since you can just update the kernel inside the package with the extra zip with the new kernel.

ps, flash_image has worked flawlessly for me, mind you that i use the Download folder for nearly everything just for being a favorite shortcut for apps.

                        Code:
                        su
                        flash_image kernel sdcard/Download/kernel.img
                        reboot
The terminal showing nothing is a sign that it worked.

ok, got it going by running openvpn first over wifi which worked and connected, then exited openvpn and disconnected vpn, then opened android built in vpn. Then it connected. If someone else who has a vpn could test if they can connect from scratch with wifi to see if this is a problem or just user error on my part.

Anyone have hbo go and can test if they are getting bad stutter in playback as well using 4.4.2? I have no problem on minix stock 006,007e,008 and finless 1.6-1.8 roms but once I install on kitkat, I get bad stuttering either immediately or after a minute or so. I have tried on both Ethernet and wifi and have 25Mbps download speed and tested many other streaming apps but HBO Go and Showtime (hdmi hack from xda forum) both stutter badly. Any thoughts?
