Chrome Browser not playing nice with new kernel
First, I am new to this forum. So apologies in advance if this is not the correct way/location to post.
But I have just this past week flashed my M6Pro to the initial 1.8 KitKat RileyROM and then applied one of the NEW kernels in post 602. (It shows as version 3.4.0 dated April 4 in the About Tablet section)
I am now finding that using the Chrome browser is causing consistent crashes/reboots. Using all other apps so far seems stable. But just having Chrome open and switching between screens can cause a crash or reboot. I also notice that often when opening pages in Chrome that the entire screen has a red border flash up.
I report this because it seems to be related specifically to Chrome.
A second question, totally unrelated, is with the original PIPO ROM and the RileyROM, neither one detect the 5GHz band on my Netgear router. Reading the PIPO literature, they claim that the M6Pro is 5G enabled. Do others see this? Or is this a H/W issue?

The mod kernel I am using is kernel_GPS_cpu_stock_gpu600_ddr648_NEW.zip . I may go back to the original one in the 1.8 ROM. But it is just Chrome that is choking the tablet. I can just use another browser.
BTW - A big hand to all working on these ROMs and kernels. I am well pleased with KitKat in general.

you are currently using the least modded one!
It's very strange that is not totally stable for you.
You can try using 1704_1325 with ram set to 648 or 672... just for curiosity!if you appreciate my efforts this is the link for any donation:

I do see some display artefacts though in chrome. Blocks of screen missing at times when scrolling. And flashing red borders. Just in chrome.

Yesterday, when playing with kernels, I got stuck in boot screen. Lucky I was able to flash kitkat in again, but nothing besides that helped.
If you have any issue with a kernel, it is only necessary to flash another kernel over that one, no need to reflash the entire ROM!
Probably these new kernels generated from new source files should have some issue with chrome browser...
Tomorrow I will install it and check.
In the meantime I can generate new versions from old sources (from stock 1.8 kernels) to have 3G working and mod kernels only for frequency and voltages!if you appreciate my efforts this is the link for any donation:

About to take the leap...
Hello there,
This is my first post here and I am a total newbie to Android tablets and of course to playing with ROMs & kernels. Before I flash my new M6Pro with this ROM (which, all going well, will be followed by trying some new kernels) I would like to say and ask the following:
Firstly a huge thanks to Randy and giouncino and everyone who has helped them in any way to produce these alternatives for the M6Pro. Finding this thread and seeing the work & dedication from you all is what gave me the confidence to jump in and buy a Chinese tablet. You guys are just amazing!
Thanks also for the amount of info and instruction you provide - again I would never consider doing something like this without it.
One thing I am currently not sure about is how to dump or where to download the stock ROM for my tablet. I have tried to dump the stock ROM with the Rom Dumper Tool (2.1) included in the RR1.8 zip but have not succeeded. When I open the tool it says "Found One MSC Device" at the bottom which I thought looked positive. When I tried to dump the Parameter file however I get an alert that says "Match device type failed, stop running!". I know the instructions provided say this tool has been tested on several tablets and the M6Pro is not listed but should it work? If so am I doing something wrong? I have my tablet connected to my W7 laptop via USB2 (using Pipo cable), USB storage mode not turned on. I have not put the tablet in flash mode as there is nothing mentioned about that.
I have downloaded the RR1.6.1 ROM which I would want to use if I was to decide to go back to JB anyway, I would just like to have the stock ROM somewhere just in case...
Any help/suggestions will be most apreciated. I just hope I haven't already made a fool of myself by missing something obvious that's been said a hundred times before here!
Cheers,
Lee
