Don't think the device being rooted is the issue. I've used the latest hulu plus apk on many 4.2.2 Jellybean roms including the latest official minix rom, finless bobs last 4.2.2 rom and many others. All have worked fully rooted with 4.2.2 and the latest hulu plus.Last edited by himmon; 11 September 2014, 10:23.

I also have a mk809ii running a stock version of kitkat that I've rooted. This runs hulu plus with no issues, problem is the rom is for a rk3066 dual core TV stick. It's Shomari's rom found under the rk3066 section of the forum on here. If only we could work out what's missing from all the rk3088 x7 kitkat roms here that I've tried. Comcast Xfinity TV go is another app that won't work on any kitkat x7 rom too. Complains about peer certificate missing.Last edited by himmon; 11 September 2014, 10:26.

XBMC is not meant to be used as a launcher although some do now offer that option ( the one included with Quickshot did not but I'm uncertain if it's updated version offers it or not ). The biggest technical reason is that as a launcher... the SD card isn't mounted soon enough so when it tries to read it's user settings ( located on the SD Card ) it can't. It has also been known to corrupt the SD card on shutdown in some situations. Another issue, is by default it's default skin ( unless modded ) doesn't support running android apps. Some of the add-on skins do allow running an android app and you'll need to find one and install it if you are going to make this change from within XBMC.
If your XBMC skin allows running an app ( not a program )... add the Settings app to one of your skin's screens and run it. Then go to the Apps section and find the XBMC you installed in the list of downloaded or running apps... open that and go to the "Launch by default" section and clear defaults. Click the home button on one of your remotes or keyboards and reselect which app you want to run as your launcher.
Alternate... if you have a launcher app such as Apex or Nova... run that instead and their settings have options to select a default launcher.
Probably the easiest if your box is running and has an internet connection and you have access to another computer with internet access... Open an internet browser and go to the Play Store https://play.google.com/ ... make certain to log into it with the same account you have used on your box... Search for a launcher you don't have installed yet and download it to the device... it will be listed as "Rockchip THeNiTRoBox"... it may take a little time to download.. once completed, hit the home key on your remote/keyboard to reselect the launcher of choice.

init.d support
i installed qs 3,1 clean install with flash tool. it is very fast and stable.
with QS 2 there werent any screen black outs. with QS3.1 i have random blackouts with one of my tvs. i experienced that also with finless 1.8 rom. maybe there is something similar in those roms that is responsible for the blackouts. the special kernels and/or new cable couldnt fix the problem.
edit: i edited my post as there is support for init.d. i couldnt change the post titleLast edited by meddem; 14 September 2014, 20:37.
