great work codesnake running very smoothly on M8N. IS it possible to get your builds installing on old MTD rooms as I have a few mx2 still using this.

No, it can't be installed on old MTD. But you can install the 1.1.6 firmware and then OpenELEC.

          Resolution stuck at 720p/60hz

          Hi,
Thanks for your great work on this codesnake.
Have just installed your beta from first post on square M8 (rounded remote).
The problem I have is my resolution is stuck at 720p/60hz. It's connected to a Sony Bravia 1080p TV.
I notice other people in the thread with a similar problem.

I wonder if this is something leftover from the original ROM which came pre-installed on the box?
When I setup the box on first receiving it, it wouldn't auto-detect 1080p, it was also stuck at 720p/60hz, I had to manually select 1080p within the android settings and then xbmc picked it up and it worked fine.

I have noticed that it does output 1080p for a fraction of a second when it displays the initial amlogic logo, just before the OpenElec splash screen.
I saw in a post that you'd forced 720p at that point for compatibility purposes, it seems my box then doesn't want to auto detect and gets stuck at 720p.
Is there anything I can do to get this running at 1080p?
          Thanks for your help.

Please run the following in terminal and post the result:
            Code:
            cat /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/disp_cap

              Hi,
              Thanks for the speedy response!
              The result of that is:
              null edid

              Does that help?

It seems that for some reason the box cannot read EDID from your TV, and it is the cause of your problem. I have the following output after the above mentioned command:
                Code:
                480p
                576p
                720p
                1080i
                1080p
                720p50hz
                1080i50hz
                1080p50hz*
                1080p24hz

                  Very odd.
Do you think flashing another ROM then reflashing your OpenElec would help?
I don't think it's a coincidence that it wouldn't auto detect on the original android ROM either.
Or is it more likely a hardware problem?
I've tried the box in various HDMI ports, with 3 different cables and plugged through my amp as well as direct to the TV.
Also as a side note CEC doesn't work, I suspect this maybe related.

No, flashing other ROM will not help. This is clearly some problem with your HDMI connection, both EDID and CEC are HDMI-related.

                      Hi,
I have had a box delivered that wouldnt produce proper hdmi output..
Symptoms are very similar. Id advise you to rma the device if its still under warranty. I suspect some of these boxes just might be a bit.. flaky..

Thanks, I might try plugging into another tv and running the edid check again before I RMA.

First of all you need to ensure you have the 1.1.6 Android firmware installed (http://wiki.matricom.net/i/MX2_Firmware). Then download the OpenELEC at https://github.com/codesnake/OpenELE..._MX2-4.2.1.zip and put it onto SD-card. Insert the card into the box and enter recovery using toothpick method. Select Install from EXT->sdcard in menu, then select the downloaded archive. Once the installation process is complete, reboot the box.

Ok ok I installed 1.1.6 but when but when install openelec is start installing then it will abort??? Can someone help me????

Hello Codesnake, great work so far, thankyou... So do you have or are you working on a OE build for the T8 box?

                                Hi,
Go to Openelec settings and enable SSH access.
Then from your pc/mac run a terminal client, I use Putty in Windows.
Connect to your Openelec box using its IP address.
                                Login with username: root
                                Password: openelec
Then run the command that codesnake posted within the terminal.
                                Hope this helps.
