No, what I say is that you can't change the button which powers on the box. This is fixed to a special RC and button. That means if codesnake has just one release for M8 he only has compiled openelec for one RC of the different models. So there must be a special build for every single RC if you want power on for all models.

@codesnake: Correct me if I'm wrong! This is the way how I think it works.

But you can change (by loading your personal remote.conf in config folder) all buttons when openelec is started or even use another RC with openelec.
Look at your standard remote.conf in /etc and you understand how this file works and how it can be changed.

This is on an M8N pcb v1.00

Genesis -> Walking Dead -> S05E11 -> Ororo stream. It's the same with all videos ofcourse.
Even on Dim screensaver, i see the M8 logo on the upper left part of the screen.

EDIT: This does not happen with software acceleration.
My buddies G Box Q has the same problem. But that hasn't happen to me on my G Box Q

The devices power on the TV.
You're misunderstanding my question, but this phrasing you've used is misleading and inaccurate.

Regarding my question, I didn't mention any additional devices attached to the TV. I am not expecting the OpenElec/s802 box to power-on my television, or any other devices.

Regarding your point about CEC not working "the other way around", that is inaccurate.

I'm intimately familiar with it, and it's a two-way protocol. The TV can power-on the device, the device can power on the TV. None of this has anything to do with the remote, I'm trying to leave out talk of remotes because it only confuses matters.

I'm not trying to figure out CEC or Kodi integration with CEC. I have several s802 boxes running Kodi on Android working just fine.

The simple point I am trying to make is this (re: v5.0.3):
        1. The current OpenElec build will power-save when the TV is turned off.
        2. The current OpenElec build will not restore power when the TV is turned on.

How can #1 be a "feature" or "by design" if #2 is not supported, leaving the user to go manually turn the OpenElec box on, physically? Because as is also reported on the Russian forums, the original remotes will not work / will not power-on the box on the current OpenElec build, the CEC will not power-on the box. Therefore, the only remaining way to power-on the box is by manually walking-up to it and pressing the power button.

I have six TV's with CEC/ARC capability. Not a single one of my TV's allows me to disable a *single* CEC device. It's typically all-or-nothing.

Therefore, if I disable CEC on my TV, I lose AV-receiver integration/etc. This is the reason that disabling CEC really isn't a fix.

My point is that there are other people on the Russian forums saying the exact same thing, and there, based on Google Translate's best attempt, it seems that this is something that is attempting to be fixed in the OpenElec build. Maybe my original explanation just didn't make sense?

BTW orginal remote DOES WORK to power on the box that was powered off by CEC.

As far as I understood you have M8N. I don't have such box, so I cannot support it.

@wpb, on my TV's settings I can disable CEC power off, as you can see here, and this is not the only TV where it can be done like this:[IMG][/IMG]

And about the player's remote, I already said it is not the original one, but the one supplied by the vendor (company, not private person), that had some customisations done to the M8.

@codesnake, can a remote, my non working one , for example, be added using this tutorial ?

It seams rather complicated, at least for me, but I'll give it a shot if it might work.

                    Thank you.

No, that tutorial will most likely not work in your case

Thanks @codesnake. I'll try buying an original M8 RC.

                            Hi CodeSnake.

Have you tried any of the OpenELEC builds on the G Box Q yet? Was wondering if you had any luck with it.

I have 5.0.3 working on it pretty well. But some audio add-ons take a very long time for audio to start. And I'm still not able to get an straight ethernet connection from my Q to my laptop as on previous builds. I can only transfer files over wifi, which really isn't a big deal, just slower.

And what do you think the problem is with the M8 logo showing over top of movies when they are played. I personally haven't seen that. Only a buddy of mine has seen it and a couple members here.

                            Thanks

If you see it so, then you're right ;-)

It's just a little bit wired that Beelink only lists one M8 version (except 8/16 GB version).

Too bad you can not support my M8 :-(

We are talking about square M8 box (like the following: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/M8-An...243963645.html). You have different one.
