Just last night the GT1 Ultimate went into a boot loop just after the Google Splash screen? Day before it did the same until I removed the USB drive I had plugged in? Any ideas?
Thanks?

Could also be that it's not getting enough power to run both devices if the usb drive does not provided it's own power. This can cause what you describe.
I see this when I try to power with usb only and using 4k output
edit:
if you have a male to male usb and a spare port on your box try plugging it into your box and tv to give extra power to the plug

what root apps have you installed?
would need to know more about what you have installed, and had done before this happened to understand what caused it. random bootloops are normally self caused and the result of a system file change
if not a power issue

I have not installed a root app except what is packaged with your ROM.
Last evening the box booted up fine with no USB device plugged in...... Go Figure!!

Can't really help then as no one else has reported this or experianced this myself and I have had mine running 7.1.2 for about 2 month now with USB plugged in and all sorts.
I would recommends flashing stock and removing root as without root nothing can alter the system to cause a boot loop
Maybe try flashing the zip in recovery fist see if that helps then if it does remove root
