Can someone please confirm if this custom firmware is compatible with this MECOOL box please?
I just dont want to buy it if not compatible or possibility it gets bricked!

Yes, this box is compatible with this firmware, HOWEVER, there are a batch of these boxes that have bad eMMC modules and will brick your box. I am not sure how you can tell what box you will receive, since there are bad ones still in circulation. Perhaps, you can ask the seller to open the box and take a picture of the insides so the experts on here can tell you definitely it is a good box.

simple just download OTA UPDATE file and save to usb then load box up and can use OTA updater

I seem to have issue with Widevine and/or some applications using TVStock 20171216. The device was delivered with 20170815.182813.V0321, and it was working (getting HD), although I hadn't tested in a while.

Tested V0619 TVStock-20171001, same issue. Just to be clear, the application is "Canal Play", ie something very official and legal.

I've bought a M8S pro+ from Gearbest and got one with the faulty eMMC. I just did a factory oem update and after not booting up anymore, I've found this forum and the informations about the bad batch.
However, I did a picture of the firmware version which was on the box previously. It was 20171031.091923.V0619. Maybe I can fix it if I put the factory firmware on it with which it was shipped.
Does anyone have it?

Hey many thanks for the TV stock variant. But now I have myself a problem. I purchased 2 mecools, one for me and one for my father. The thing is that I updated both to TV Stock variant because I like it a lot and I think is the perfect experience, but my father somehow thinks that the TV Box was fine with version 20171124. The thing is that I searched 20171124 downloaded it, and went to install it but I get error: the firmware model is "p21x"

What can or should I do?

You can pull the "updater-script" file out of META-INF\com\google\android of the zip and edit the line
(file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.product.device") == "M8S_PRO_PLUS")
Change it from "M8S_PRO_PLUS" to "p21x"
Just put the file back into the zip and it should work. You can even take out the platform check but it's easier and faster to just adapt it.
The next time you do a oem update it should work out of the box without editing the updater-script file in the zip. The oem update fixes the build.prop file.

Does anyone have the oem 20171031.091923.V0619 firmware? I've got a box with the faulty eMMC :-/

Has anyone been able to cast anything? I'm with last version of TV stock updated via OTA... I know it's a known bug but it would be nice to have this feature working.

I do not think it will happen. Playready licence is pretty expensive for small chinese company, and also Microsoft is pretty paranoid to share it with small chinese company.

Just a couple of things, how do i go about checking to see if this box is ok to flash the firmware ? And if you need to remove the cover, how do you do this? I see no screws on the bottom of the box.

the firmware out of the box is 20170919.150557.V0619 if that helps?

is this enough info to confirm this box is ok to flash this firmware please?
