The best way is to open your box, short the two spots where the reset button should be soldered to, then use the USB Burning tool to restore whatever ROM you wish to install. Very easy to do, you just need a male to male USB cable.

I have just bought a M8S Pro L and flash this ROM.

All is working good, but I have a problem when playing videos.

Before I was using a Raspberry Pi 2 to play my films, but with some films it wasn't very good cause to performance of the rpi, so I have bought this android box.


But now, for a film which is well working on rpi, there is little jerkys on the video with M8S (Kodi Krypton 17.6 player).

I have installed the same player on my computer for test and on the computer the film is also fluent.


What do you think about that ?

For information i have just flash the box and install only kody with a skin (estuary mod)

That looks like a recording, is it by any chance from an interlaced source?? Also, did you test that file using VLC??

the same file on kodi on my computer is working well

but I think the box is hot very quickly and in the same time the wifi connection is very low very quickly (the box is just near the router...)

I think the box is heating very quickly....

but have you the same problems and is it the problem of this android box or just mine ?

I have just installed AIDA64 to view temperature of the CPU and just after starting a video, i go back on the main menu and launch AIDA64 to view CPU temp, and it's upper than 80°C

Is it the same with yours ?

These boxes run this hot. Kodi is worst media player that causes the increase in tempature, but it has not affected my playback. Give SPMC a try, and also Kodi 18 alpha.

or perhaps existing a passive heat sink to change the one in the box which is well working ? (a very large one and more efficient ?)

Won't help. Tried it already. An active cooling is your best bet.

Everything works great...in fact no overheating issues so far

The only thing I'm missing from the original Mecool rom is the handy Miracast apk which I had carefully extracted and re-installed but doesnt seem to work on your Nexus rom.
@Magendanz Any chance you could try and fix it?
