Think I'll flash this rom after I've tested the stock to the max still only had it for 1 day got a raspberry pi fan arriving tomorrow so I'll see how it goes after I've modded the heat issue going to build my own lid to better accommodate the pi fan and give the box a custom shell to better reflect the custom nature of the hole box
Wanna see a picture of your box after the mod........ thanks

I picked up a fan and placed the box on top of it. Without fan my box runs 85 celcius, with fan 65 celcius.

Guest Did you have any luck cooking a working rom for the LB version? a couple of months ago i remember reading that you found difficulties with the latest official OTA update, using them to build a new nexus rom, those were the firmware for the LB version of the TV Box, did you made something that we with this version can use? Please! It seems that you're the only one really working on this and we would really appreciate your help! if you already did something can you at least upload it? I woud like to test it out

Nice. I’m trying to take the heat sink off to see if I can lower the heat without a fan. But dam this is tough to get off.

Better don't try to remove stoсл heatsink, you will probably damage cpu, with a guarantee of 99%. This is an overkill, here are image from a russian guy on 4pda forum, he just installed a copper plate:

Try to install it without glue if you are scared of such methid , just with termopaste and see how it works for you.

Agree punch holes after removing wifi antenna (stuck lightly with glue can pull off ) put fan and forget heatsink business...

If someone has a 3D printer i think i found a pretty neat solution for the active heatsink, i had 2 spare fans unused, I attached them under the TV Box opening a rectangular hole underneath the Box, placing the printed piece as a case for the fans, i should still have the 3D model in STL format on my old laptop, if someone wants in the next days i can look for it and post it on thingiverse sharing the link on this thread or in a new one...

Anyway, unfortunatly i can't stress this enough... is Guest working on a ROM for the new LB version? I'm tired of the stock rom, there's no way to make Prime video run or to control my TV with google home...

Nice work. Are your sure Amazon Prime and Chromecast will work with a modded firmware by Magendanz??

I remember trying to install his rom before I realized that it was for a different wifi/bt IC and I noticed a new voice under the options for the chromecast, while Amazon allows streaming on selected devices, and I remember the nexus to be one of them, the allowance is no longer based only on the build.prop, so maybe a rom based on the nexus might be a good starting point to make it work

What pathetic is the fact that we need to create our own ways to keep this device cool.

I think Videostrong should be the ones fixing this issue.

It's a cheap alternative to expensive top boxes and high end smart tvs, what did you expect?

Yes you are correct and I understand it’s cheap and I really like the box. But I still feel they should’ve at near made an attempt to correct the heating issue. From the looks they did add cheaper hardware than the orginal released box. So that there tells you they don’t care about this heating issue, they already started cutting corners on what could be the best box out there besides the shield.
