      I have my M8S Pro L on the stock ROM/firmware. Am I understanding this correctly that all I have to do in order to install this Nexus ROM is download the OTA update https://1drv.ms/u/s!AoqocX31ecnXgatjUTLoMCBz7XqfEQ and then go in the OTA update section of my box and click local and wipe data and point it to the zip file and let it do its thing?

            And to update to future releases, the update app is available in Settings->About->System update. (Or, you can do it in TWRP recovery.)

          Magendanz can i change the launcher?

            I'm not aware of 3rd party launchers for Android TV. If you want an alternative launcher, I'd recommend you use the Nano or Stock (non-ATV) variant.

          Hello,

          i have used this rom for my M8S Pro L, but i have a problem with Netflix now. Everytime i start it i get the error message "ui-800-3" which i tried to fix, but everything i found didnt work. Is this a common problem with this build or is there a fix for that?

            Sounds like you lost your Widevine L1 keys. Did you unwittingly select Erase All or Force Erase All from the dropdown menu in USB Burning Tool? Did you check Overwrite Key maybe?

          Hi,

          No way OTA by "local update option from Settings->About->System update" because the firmware Changelog (20171115) don't have this option, it's only in next firmware Changelog (20171202)... And this box have no reset button so the only solution is
          1. Enable Developer Mode
          2. Enable terminal
          3. Go to App Drawer
          4. Select Terminal
          5. Tap reboot twrp
          and select your zipfile or reflash your device !

            Actually, you need to type "reboot recovery" in the terminal window, but for a long time that was the only way to do OTA updates from these custom ROMs.

            Remember, you can also update with Amlogic's USB Burning Tool or Bootcard Maker using the burn package. From the terminal window, just type "reboot update" instead.

          Guest I used this documentation for windows: https://www.cnx-software.com/2016/11...ogic-tv-boxes/

          Is there a way to get those keys back?

            Sorry, those are flashed at the factory and they're device-specific. I can't even make an update for you, since I don't have the key generator.

          Hi, I wanted to install SuperSU and got "su binaries occupied" message, so I've read some googled solutions and downloaded previous version of SuperSU. This time I've got "succeded" message but after pressing "reboot button" I'm stuck on the "spinning wheels" (device reboots, displays NEXUS logo then the "spinning wheels"; I've waited 20minutes in that state but nothing happens ) . Can someone confirm, that using superSU is safe on this ROM and something just went wrong or there is no way to safely install superSU? Next question is, of course, what do I do now? Does pressing menu button on the remote work on this ROM just as on the OEM version or do I have to short reset pins? What do I flash after booting? Update.zip or img? Sorry for my poor english and for asking lame questions

            Guest Is there any way to write on the sd card? I have tried to put it as internal storage from settings - storage but corrupts the sd card. And by formatting ntfs or exfat, I can not write to it from a kodi video plugin (quasar), to download the videos on the sd card.

              Just format it as external, which will give you FAT32. You should be able to read and write that on the Android device, Windows or Mac.

            Guest The problem is that fat32 has file limitation to 4gb. If kodi is used to watch a fullHD HD or 4K torrent, it will occupy more than 4GB and it will not be possible to view it.

            I have found several ways to fix it, but I have not tried it yet. One of them is to modify the platform.xml file and add these lines. <permission name = "android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE">
            <group gid = "sdcard_r" />
            <group gid = "sdcard_rw" />
            <group gid = "media_rw" />
            </ permission>

                  I used ESfile Explorer. The folder is '/ system / etc / permissions /' and the platform.xml file. It is necessary to have root to modify that file. I think this is pre-rooted rom, but I do not know for sure because I have magisk installed.

                    Guest The latest version of VLC player(version 3.0) now supports google/chromecast to all android device including this device. I was wondering if there's a way to reverse that same engineering to make this device receive cast from every other platform?

                      The device needs a Google license, which gives it keys in the secure storage that are missing now. I don't believe we're going to be able to work around that.
                  Working...
