leolas, I'm going to write you on this thread instead of PM. I don't seem to get notified about those, so I don't see them until much later. So I hope you are reading this thread still.

My results today have been quite confusing. You asked how I had flashed the cwm file you gave me earlier today. I had used your 2nd method given in the first post. Could that have cause the "wipeout" of my stick (i.e. it would no longer boot)? Did you intend for me to use the first method? I was assuming you wanted me to use your newer method 2.

After that, I flashed Finless 1.5. It was fine. Then I tried the recovery that came with it. Fine. Then I went to Finless 1.6b again. Yesterday, all recoveries whether original or cwm had failed to show when I booted into recovery ("no signal"). But now, both the original and cwm versions are displaying when I boot into recovery!! EDIT: I misspoke there. I meant to say that the recovery from Finless 1.5 and cwm are displaying, NOT the original 1.6b recovery.

I realize this is nuts, and I hope I didn't waste too much of your time. But my problems yesterday were real! I may go back soon and try to figure out what caused it. I have a feeling that my Finless 1.6b install was somehow "flawed", and no matter what I tried, I was not going to be able to go into any version of recovery.

Note that for my recent successful recovery installs, I've only been using Method 1. I have NOT used your method 2 yet. I had tried those yesterday unsuccessfully. And I had tried method 2 this morning with your new file, but as I said earlier in this post, maybe I was supposed to be using method 1, not method 2. In the near future, I will be trying method 2 again, and I'll see if I can boot into cwm recovery after that.

By the way, I can use a wired mouse and keyboard during cwm recovery, but I'm unable to use a wireless mouse. Should that also be working?

I'm sure I have your head spinning by now! Thanks again.

      Re: cwm recovery for rk3188

Ok, then there is something strange in 1.6b stock recovery.img, so delete the file I sent you by pm, it will not work. I don't know what is the problem with 1.6b and recovery.img

        Hi, I have few questions.
But at first I found some letter mistake in path of download link
K-R42: http://www.freak-tab.de/leolas/cwm/kr42-v2-cwm-recovery.img.zip, after donwload we get file about name rk42-v2-cwm-recovery.img but in above in link we see k42 - mistake letter (rk42-kr42),
so it can create problem for another user

        My question:
I try install cvm recovery with from first post - "new way to install cwm recovery from any rom and without pc.(RECOMMENDED, specially if you use lewy roms)"

after all operations in terminal i get message - "wrote recovery partition"
and I dont know what I sould in next step? Where I can find image of my actual system?
And How I can restore it from another software?

Now you need to enter in cwm recovery, from terminal emulator write:
          su
          reboot recovery
And you must enter in recovery mode, in that boot, you will see a menu, and then you can backup or restore your firmware from cwm only.
Using other software is possible but I never used it, so I didnt check it.

You should also fix the name of package for kr42 - somebody may has problem with unzip.

External sdcard is the best option for me.
When I have my stick ready, with all programs installed all settings prepared, etc... I made a backup to an external sdcard that I have only for this purpose, then I have a "ready to restore mirrow of my system", so if I brick my device or made another mistake, I only need to reflash the recovery and in 5 minutes I have my system up and ready again

usb keyboard support in CWM recovery for MINIX Neo x7

I faced with the issue that usb keyboard is not working in recovery menu came from stock ROM of MINIX Neo x7. I assume that navigation needs to be done via supplied remote control but I don't have a batteries to check. I wonder if it will be possible to use USB keyboard in CWM recovery menu for navigation in that device?

I use a plugged standard usb keyboard and it works great, maybe some wiresless keyboards don work.

If your TV only does 720 you will get a blank screen with some of Finless as he presets 1080.
Not sure if it helps but I hope it does.

You are right, it could be a reason to get a blank screen too.
