Edit: Just checked again, still no OTA update.

Edit 2: Here is the link to Magendanz's OTA zip file for your box. Just download the file, copy it to a USB pendrive and try to install it from your boot screen, it may work.

It is strange that dCosta got an ota notice, yet no one else has.
    ... Pretty strange

Now that it is loaded/ half loaded / corrupt... and won't allow an overwrite to the earlier version,
Is a system wipe, followed by the sd file listed in post above :
    udisk/KM8-ota-V0412.201806271453.zip.??

Is this advisable, or likely to really brick the box?
Just wondering if it would clear the newest ota he has applied and allow a rollback?

The best way is to use the USB Burning Tool method............... As long as you have the correct firmware, it is almost impossible to brick these devices....

clarkss12 I didn't get the impression he was a "burn flasher" yet.
... Of course, it's as good a time as any, to learn.

        I'd try Guest ota.
Seems it would overwrite whatever is present, once it confirms system checks.

I just downloaded the USB Burning Tool and I see is an apk file, where should I install this?

Doing what you suggest in "Edit 2" is the same as post #316

I'm going to try to upload a video on YouTube so you can see what happens when I power on the device and also there is an option called "Run graphics test" where you can see the latest actions performed on this device, you will see the firmware trying to apply and then the "error" message.

In the meantime oh, you can't make it worse... Run mag's ota/sd file.
It may very well overwrite ALL others present in your device.

Not really, they are different files, with differing commands

There's step by step instructions on usb burning within the site... Many.
Search and look for amlogic "tools"

Maybe this video will help you installing a firmware using the USB Burning tool.

Hmm. Sometimes it be's like that. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, uknow?

Probably need to learn to burn alright.
Throw up a screenshot or jpg of your recovery menu options

Thank you!, I'm gonna try this and I'll let you know once I get the usb cable, in the meantime I'm gonna record the video and share the youtube link here so you can see the current state of the box.

Easy to make your own male to male USB cable, using old cables you MAY have laying around. Or, if you are real sneaky, when your significant other is sleeping, steal his/her cable that is charging his/her phone. Take a steak knife and cut the male end off the cables, use the knife and strip the outer sheathing, exposing the 6 conductors. Strip the connectors with knife, and twist the wires from each cable together, black to black, white to white, etc. After you twist them together, put scotch tape or masking tape over the wires...........

                              Hi guys,

                              (srry for my english )
I am new here, but I want to mention that I have exactly same problem with Mecool KM8, than @delacosta78.

After OTA update the box is useless, just stuck in the prime screen "TV Box".
                              Failing update number is /XXX/20190226.

Till now I have tried to contact the VideStrong, but without reply.
Flashing the ROM (KM8_OPR6.170623.013 V0412.201806271453) via burning tool, that is mentioned few rows above failed for me with [0x10105002] Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initialize status/USB Control setup error
Flashing it via recovery showed that it is older that current one and cannot be written, or something similar

So it looks like that they push out very very faulty ROM......

Please if someone will have any solution, please put it here

                              Thnks in advance

I figured that would be the missing link!
