Really? Minix disabled ADB push in this ROM? Bummer as that is usually how a manual root a stock ROm before starting on a new ROM.

probably, as Pluto says, I didnt repeat an adb root before adb push so it failed.

you'll need:
MinixNeoX7_Utility.zip (obsolete but it contain "su" executable and supersu.apk, if you have those from another package its not needed)
moborobo


A) from your x7 (connected by usb host port) activate usb connection from usb settings, then debug usb from developer settings
B) install motorobo and run it
C)from windows copy "su" executable ("Util" folder in minixneox7_utility) e supersu.apk ( SysApps folder ) on your x7 memory - "adb push" command is disabled so you need to do it by hand.
D)open the folder on your pc where you installed adb, shift+ right click and select "open command window here"
E) in your command window enter "adb root", then "adb shell"
if everything is working you should see a "root@android:/ #" prompt
F)now enter:
"mount -o remount,rw /system"
"cp /mnt/sd/su /system/xbin/su"
"chown 0.0 /system/xbin/su"
"chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su"
"sync"
"mount -o remount,ro /system"
G) from x7 filemanager (or wathever android file manager you prefer, minix's default one sucks) launch supersu.apk , install, execute it and let it update su executable
H) enjoy your rooted x7

I copied it with moborobo but when i adb its ass it says no such file or directory.

wherever you want, just modify the "cp /mnt/sd/su /system/xbin/su" so it will point to that directory.
for eg if you copy it to your micro-sd card it will be "cp /mnt/external_sd/su /system/xbin/su"

Do i need to mkdir su in xbin?
If so that thats the problem i think.

Got it working ! I had to change mnt/sd/su to mnt/sdcard/su thats where my files ware copied.

I am sorry for hopping in your post, but I need help, and I thought you may be able to help me.. I flashed finless 1.8 and apparently flashed a corrupted file. My boot screen will allow abd push commands which i am not sure how to do. My neo x7 will not go back into flash mode using reset button. After first run on flash i didn't realize file was corrupt and re-flashed the device. Now there is no reset to flash mode occurring. I have flashed and rooted many times before with no problems. I'm not a programmer but do have degree in networking so i am not completely incompetent. Can you please help me? Thank You, Kevin

Your probably going to have to go into mask ROM mode. That means taking the box apart and shorting the reset pads.

Look in the X5 forum I posted how to unbrick a hard brick with instructions. It's the same for the X7.

Greetings all,

Loving the 1.8 finless so far, but one small issue.
My video (movie) stops around 30 mins into playing.
I have tried multiple players same issue when watching movies from a lan drive.

Anything to help locate or fix my issue would be greatly appreciated.

When you say it stops what player are you using at the time?

I ask because it sound like the phantom back button problem a few of us have seen over time and is nothing to do with this rom. If you are in something like mxplayer or archos player then it will stop the film as if the back button was pressed. If you are in xbmc then it will go to the selection screen with the film still playing as if the back button was pressed.

If this is the case then it helped me to move my mouse/airmouse usb receiver into the side usb port instead of using the back ones.

If it is not this then I apologize for the speech.

Finless Rom Flash questions

Hi guys! First time poster, long time reader... I just got my X7, and am about to flash the Finless 1.8 rom to it. I've read all of the posts to this thread, and there are many, but I have a couple of questions I don't remember seeing in any of the posts. 1) In your opinion, which Finless OC kernel do you guys feel is most stable for the X7? 2) I'm confused by the naming of the parameter files. If I select "parameter8", does that mean that I would then have 8GB of APP space and 12GB of storage space?

Actually I'm not using an airmouse at all... using my Galaxy Facinate with the downloaded RKRemote Control app after my Minux A2 airmouse was chewing up batteries like it was at a "all you can eat" buffet.

I tried Stock Player, MX Player and even the VLC Player (beta). They all play nicely but just seem to simply just stop after 30 minutes or so. I don't think it is my RKRemote Control app as I sleep the phone (remote) after the film starts.

Just to see, try using xbmc for a while. If it is the back button thing then it wont actually stop the film but go back a menu. You will know if it is that or not then.
